Mario Kart Arcade Grand Prix DX: latest update adds Daisy, more

Mario Kart Arcade Grand Prix DX was first released almost 4 years ago (in July 2013), and yet, it’s still getting major updates. The latest one was released today, and adds a new playable character, two “new” circuits, and more. That new character is none other than Daisy, that fans had been waiting for and for a while. She’s a balanced character, making her perfect for newcomers.

Bandai-Namco also added two new circuits to Grand Prix mode: Pac-Man Stadium and Namco Circuit. Those two were previously available in other modes, but now, they’re also in Grand Prix Mode… and in classes above 50cc for the first time!

Some other changes were made to Grand Prix mode, and more specifically the 50cc class. Previously, you needed to clear 4 courses, but now, you will only need to clear 2. That way, you will be able to enjoy shorter play sessions than in other classes, where you still need to clear 4 courses (no changes there).

When you clear a cup, you now get various goodies: items, characters, karts. It looks like there’s a reward for each cup in every class, too!

Finally, Bandai-Namco also made some other (minor) changes to the game:

  • you can now level up further than Level 21 in the “Nationwide Tournament” mode;
  • various adjustements were made to improve game balance.

Here’s some pictures for this update:

Unfortunately, we don’t know if/when this update for Mario Kart Arcade Grand Prix DX will be available for game centers located outside Japan.
