Famitsu – December 2019 (November 25th to December 29th)

Here’s the Top 5 Software for December 2019 in Japan:

01./01. [NSW] Pokemon Sword / Shield # <RPG> (Pokemon Co.) {2019.11.15} (¥5.980) – 1.241.050 / 2.988.134 (-29%)

03./05. [NSW] Ring Fit Adventure <HOB> (Nintendo) {2019.10.18} (¥7.980) – 205.558 / 495.639 (+30%)

The Nintendo Switch once again dominated sales, with 4 of the 5 games in the Top 5:

NSW – 4
PS4 – 1

This month again, Nintendo was not the most successful publisher in Japan, thanks to the strong performance of Pokémon Sword and Shield. That being said, both Nintendo and The Pokémon Company sold well over 1 million games each:

  1. Pokemon Co. – 1.275.000
  2. Nintendo – 1.248.000
  3. Bandai Namco Games – 431.000

Finally, the Nintendo Switch had a great December with well over 1 million units sold. Sales are very slightly down Year on Year, but that’s actually a great performance given the complete lack of notable releases this year (2018 had Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, of all games!).
