Kirby Air Riders is off to a strong start in Japan: it ranked #3 with nearly 250,000 units sold (241,881 units to be precise). That’s significantly better than Kirby Air Ride on GameCube, which sold 85,453 units at launch (and 422,311 units in total).
There’s little doubt Kirby Air Riders will end up outselling its predecessor; after all, it’s over half-way there already! And there’s also digital sales to take into account, and we know from the monthly Nintendo eShop sales rankings that the game is quite popular digitally (it was the best-selling game in November).
Next up, Momotarou Dentetsu 2 ~Anata no Machi mo Kitto Aru~ is off to a decent start with 141.141 units sold on Nintendo Switch alone, and around 234.000 units in total for the two versions.
Still, there’s no denying this new entry saw a noticeable drop in sales during launch week (the two previous entries on Nintendo Switch both sold over 300,000 units during launch week).
It appears that after two highly successful entries, a certain fatigue has settled among the Japanese audience (not to mention that the previous one was released just 2 years ago). However, there’s little doubt both versions will enjoy strong sales during the holidays season, and throughout 2026 and beyond.
Finally, Pokémon Legends: Z-A has now sold over 2.1 million units combined on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Publishers
After a brief pause last month due to the launch of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Nintendo is back as the most successful publisher in Japan with around 764.000 units sold. Kirby Air Riders accounts for a good chunk of those sales, with Mario Kart World also making a big contribution. The rest comes from the usual evergreen titles on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
As for the Pokémon Company, it drops to #3 with 386.000 units sold. The vast majority of those sales come from Pokémon Legends: Z-A on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
- Nintendo: 764.000
- Square-Enix: 548.000
- The Pokémon Company: 386.000
Hardware
For the 6th month in a row, the Nintendo Switch 2 was the best-selling console in Japan. There was a clear uptick in sales with over 500,000 units sold, though that increase is mostly due to the tracking period (5 weeks for November vs. 4 weeks for October). November was the 2nd best month for the console since launch (1.188.000 units sold in June).
Sales remain fairly strong for Nintendo’s new console, though it’s clear the company is not shipping nearly enough units to fully meet demand (no doubt choosing to prioritise other markets).
As for the Nintendo Switch, its sales remain unusually strong with over 130.000 units sold in November. Just like for the Nintendo Switch 2, the extra week for November is the main reason behind that noticeable increase in monthly sales.
- Nintendo Switch 2 – 500.414 (previous month: 358.399)
- Nintendo Switch – 138.018 (previous month: 96.080)
