[Japan] Famitsu sales for March 2025 (Top 5 Software, Publishers, Hardware)

Here’s the latest sales report from Famitsu, with Hardware and Software sales for March 2025 in Japan (February 24th to March 30th, so 5 weeks in total).

Famitsu

Top 5 Software

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is off to a great start with nearly 90,000 units sold at retail alone. If you add digital sales (it was #1 on the Nintendo eShop last month), it’s already guaranteed to have outsold total sales of the original game on Wii U.

As for Yu-Gi-Oh! EARLY DAYS COLLECTION, it did pretty well with over 56,000 units sold at retail during its first month (though the game was pretty frontloaded, which was expected given the bonus card was only given away for a limited time).

But that’s not the only Konami game in the Top 5 this month, as Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars managed to rank at #4 with over 50,000 units sold at retail alone. A pretty encouraging debut that bodes well for the future of the series.

Publishers

For once, Nintendo was not the most successful publisher in Japan, though the company still managed to sell over 400.000 units of its games in March. Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition did contribute to a good chunk of those sales, but most of them come from the usual evergreen titles (such as Super Mario Party: Jamboree, still hanging around in the Top 5 Software).

Konami is #3 with over 140.000 units sold, with the two new releases contributing around 2/3 of those sales.

  1. Capcom: 802.000
  2. Nintendo: 403.000
  3. Konami: 144.000

Hardware

Hardware-wise, the Nintendo Switch saw a slight increase in sales with 171,921 units sold. Technically, that’s a slight drop, since the tracking period for March had one extra week compared to February. Still, sales remain unusually strong for such an aging console, especially with the release of its successor just around the corner.

  1. PlayStation 5 – 218.300 (previous month: 56.886)
  2. Nintendo Switch – 171.921 (previous month: 167.188)
