[Japan] Famitsu sales for June 2024 (Top 5 Software, Publishers, Hardware)

Here’s the latest sales report from Famitsu, with Hardware and Software sales for June 2024 in Japan (May 27th to June 30th, so 5 weeks in total).

With nearly 89,000 units sold in just four days, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD was the best-selling game in June in Japan. It didn’t sell nearly as much as Luigi’s Mansion 3 at launch (around 151.000 units sold), but it still performed pretty well for a rather straightforward HD remaster (especially when you factor in digital sales: it ranked #7 in the monthly Nintendo eShop Top 20).

And while it’s pretty clear it won’t come anywhere near the total sales of Luigi’s Mansion 3, there’s little doubt Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD will see strong sales through the Summer holiday season.

As for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, it enjoyed strong sales during its second month with over 77,000 units sold.

Finally, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance sold over 42,000 units during its first month on the market (a little over 2 weeks). This is a pretty decent performance for an expanded re-release on the same platform, especially as unlike the original release, it’s also available on other platforms.

Publishers

Once again, Nintendo was the most successful publisher with around 482.000 units sold. That’s slightly more than in May, but June had 5 weeks instead of 4, so numbers were bound to be somewhat inflated. Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD did contribute to those sales, but most of them come from the usual evergreen titles (including Animal Crossing: New Horizons, that saw a noticeable boost in June).

Atlus is #2 with around 90,000 units sold, and the company has mostly Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance to thank for those sales.

  1. Nintendo: 482.000
  2. Atlus: 90.000
  3. From Software: 46.000

Hardware

Hardware-wise, Nintendo Switch sales actually went up in June with around 225,000 units sold, though that increase is actually due to the tracking period (June had 5 weeks, while May had 4). Still, there’s no denying sales remain relatively healthy, especially given the lack of major release to boost sales (this month’s releases clearly sold to existing Nintendo Switch owners).

  1. Nintendo Switch: 225.316 (May 2024: 192.824)
  2. PlayStation 5: 117.592 (May 2024: 89.207)
