Investor Briefing (Oct. 2016): Kimishima talks about Wii U sales

During the usual meeting with investors, which always follows the presentation of the latest financial results, Nintendo talked about Wii U sales. First, Kimishima reminded us that Nintendo is only expecting to sell 800 000 units before April 2017. That being said, it looks that goal will be reached earlier than anticipated, since as of September 2016, 560 000 units have already been sold.

Next, the following graph was shown:

Wii UIt shows sell-through data for Wii U Hardware and Software for April to the second week of October, in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Unsurprisingly, Hardware sales are significantly down, but according to Tatsumi Kimishima, this is within Nintendo’s expectations.

Software-wise, the drop is also esily noticeable, since there was no Splatoon and Super Mario Maker to boost sales this year. But thanks to the Nintendo Selects titles released in Europe and North America, sales are actually at more or less the same level as they were during Fiscal Year 2014-15.

And… that’s pretty much all Nintendo had to say about the Wii U during this meeting with investor!
