Fire Emblem: new mainline entry announced for the Nintendo Switch, LINE stickers

During today Nintendo Direct’s presentation, entirely dedicated to the Fire Emblem series, Nintendo made quite a few surprising and unexpected announcements. Quite amusingly, the one this post is all about is probably the least surprising of the lot!

It was announced that the next mainline entry for the series would be released in 2018, and that it would be a Nintendo Switch title. Unfortunately, we know absolutely nothing about it (not even its title), just that it will be the first entry on a home console since Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (originally released in 2008).

This announcement was expected, as Fire Emblem Fates will celebrate its 2nd anniversary in June, and there were 3 years between Fire Emblem Awakening and Fates. In other words, a new mainline entry was to be expected for 2018, and by that time, the Nintendo 3DS would be pretty much dead so it would have to be on the Nintendo Switch.

Also, during the Japanese presentation, it was announced that a set of 40 Fire Emblem stickers would be released on LINE… today. It will cost:

  • 240 Yen
  • 100 Coins
  • 1.99€
  • £1.49
  • $1.99

Here’s what the stickers look like:

The stickers are now available on LINE, worldwide: click here to check them out (you need to use the LINE app).

Fire Emblem (Switch) will be released in 2018. The Upcoming Releases page has been updated, along with the list of confirmed games for the Nintendo Switch.
