Dragon Quest XI: latest batch of details and screens (Zone, Link system, more)
As usual, Square-Enix updated the official website for Dragon Quest XI: Sugisarishi Toki o Motomete on Monday, providing us with more details and screenshots for the game. This time, the focus is on two new gameplay systems: Zone and Link, which were previously covered in Jump magazine.
Let’s start with Zone: a special state the characters can enter while in battle (it’s that mysterious blue aura that could be seen on previous screenshots), that increases their combat abilities. As mentioned last time, that special state carries over to the next battle, until it disappears, so don’t feel bad if you deal with monsters too swiftly: the Zone will not go to waste!
With Zone, you can easily turn the tables, especially if you can get the other party members to enter it. But be careful: monsters can also get into that special state.
As for Link, it’s something that can only happen when several of the party members are in the Zone. Basically, the characters combine their power, and unleash powerful techniques (pretty useful for defeating tough enemies, such as bosses). The type of Link techniques you can use depend on the combinations of party members, but also the spells they learned, and the number of people in the Zone.
And just like the Zone, monsters can also unleash Link techniques!

- Silvia + Protagonist + Rou: Rose Hurricane
