Dragon Quest: special program on the NHK for the 30th Anniversary

For the 30th Anniversary of the series, the NHK (one of the most famous TV channels in Japan) is going to broadcast a special program about the Dragon Quest series on December 29th at 10PM JST. It will take a good look at the many entries in this 30 year-old franchise, one of the longest running and most popular in Japan.

Naturally, this program will feature Yuji Horii (Creator) and Koichi Sugiyama (Composer), two names indissociable from the Dragon Quest series. It will be narrated by Takayuki Yamada, and will feature “exclusive coverage at the development site of Dragon Quest XI: Sugiarashi Toki o Motomete”.

During this program, there will be an interview of Yuji Horii. If you know Japanese, you can actually submit your question via the official website!

Unfortunately, we don’t know if this special program will be available online, but it’s quite likely that even if it is, it will be region-locked. Also, it’s not clear if any actual footage from Dragon Quest XI: Sugiarashi Toki o Motomote will be shown during the program, or even if it will be made available elsewhere.

Hopefully, Square-Enix will have a trailer and/or more footage for the game before the end of the year (most likely at the Jump Festa 2016, in December).

Dragon Quest XI: Sugiarashi Toki o Motomete (3DS, Switch) comes out in 2017.
