Dementium Remastered: pricing and additional details

Dementium RemasteredToday, Jools Watsham gave some more details about Demenitum Remastered, a brand new version of the Nintendo DS cult classic coming soon to the Nintendo eShop of the 3DS. He starts by explaining that the team wasn’t afraid to make significant changes to the game, and avoid viewing it with “rose-tinted glasses”.

It’s for this reason that they went and got rid of respawning enemies: in Dementium Remastered, when you kill an enemy, it’s gone for good! They also added manual save points, as their absence in the original game was more unintentional difficulty than anything else. Of course, the developers are well aware those two changes make the game easier, which is why they added two difficulty modes:

  • Hard
  • Demented

The art was also completely overhauled, with redone geometry, higher polygon count, and more. Gameplay wise, they modernised the way weapons handle when it comes to ammo and reloading. According to Jools Watsham, the new system will feel “natural to new players”, and “improved” for players who already played Dementium on Nintendo DS.

Finally, some technical details: Dementium Remastered runs at 60FPS even with 3D activated, and on the original Nintendo 3DS/3DS XL/2DS to boot. The game is also compatible with the Circle Pad Pro, the C-Stick of the New Nintendo 3DS, and more: in fact, the game offers a “wealth of control options”, to make sure that every player can find a control setup that suits them.

As for the price, there’s some good news for players who didn’t like the episodic model of Moon 3D: Dementium Remastered will cost $14.99 and… that’s it! You will get the full game for that price, and you won’t have to buy the rest of the game as DLC later on.

Dementium Remastered (3DS eShop) comes out this year in North America (it has been sent to Nintendo for the final lotcheck). Details about the European release will be revealed at a later date.
