Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2 announced, first trailer (+ more Ace Attorney announcements)

Today, Capcom held a special talk show on the third day of the Tokyo Game Show 2016, entirely dedicated to the 15th Anniversay of the Ace Attorney series. At first, we thought there wouldn’t be anything really new in there, but then at the very end, Motohide Eshiro (Producer) made a surprise announcement.

That surprise announcement was Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2! A trailer was shown, but unfortunately, it only consists of animated cutscenes (with some tidbits from the first Dai Gyakuten Saiban).

Here it is:

Strangely enough, Capcom didn’t mention any platform for that game anywhere, and we don’t even know when exactly it will be released (it will most definitely be sometime in 2017).

Capcom will hold a special event for the Ace Attorney 15th Anniversary on January 22nd, with several guests. There’s no doubt this is where we’re going to get some more news about Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2.

Also, during the stage show, Capcom debuted a video retrospective for the Ace Attorney series, showcasing all games from the very first one on GamBoy Advance to the latest one on Nintendo 3DS (but not mentioning Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, for some reason):

Finally, it was announced that a “new” artbook will be released on October 12th in Japan. Called Gyakuten Saiban Illustration Archives, it’s based on the original Ace Attorney artbook released back in 2007. It will include artworks from the following games:

  • Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (GameBoy Advance)
  • Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (Nintendo DS)
  • Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Justice for All
  • Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Trial and Tribulations
  • Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
  • Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies
  • Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy

This artbook will have 304 pages (size: B5), and will cost 3 800 Yen + taxes. We don’t if Udon is planning to release it in English or not.

Here’s the cover:

Finally, here’s the full recording of the stage show livestream:
