4 years after the poorly received Contra: Rogue Corps, the Contra series is back with a new entry called Contra: Operation Galuga. Developed by WayForward (who previously worked on Contra 4), it will be released in early 2024 worldwide.
Ahead of that release, Konami has shared a new trailer for the game. It introduces the various playable characters:
- Bill Rizer (Legendary Leader)
- Lance Bean (Headbanded Hero)
- Lucia (Enigmatic Agent)
- Ariana (Island Warrior)
- Stanley Ironside (Heavy-Duty Destroyer)
- Probotector (Cybernetic Soldier)

Introducing a new entry in the legendary Contra series! Contra: Operation Galuga is a thorough reimagining of the classic run ‘n’ gun NES/arcade game from the 1980s, featuring timeless gameplay, iconic weapons, modern graphics and sound, new stages, new enemies and bosses, new play mechanics, and intense co-op combat for up to two players in Story Mode or four players in Arcade Mode! Take control of elite Contra commandos Bill Rizer and Lance Bean as they battle the Red Falcon terrorist group, which has turned the once-peaceful Galuga Islands into an all-out warzone where the fate of mankind hangs in the balance.

Classic Run ‘n’ gun gameplay
Run, jump, and shoot your way through eight action-packed stages! Infiltrate the jungle, ascend the waterfall, speed through an enemy base on a hovercycle, and more!
4-player co-op action
Enlist with friends for local co-op combat! Up to two players can team up in Story Mode, and up to four players can join forces in Arcade Mode.
Contra: Operation Galuga (Switch) does not have a release date yet, but is slated for an early 2024 release worldwide.
