Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night – New gameplay video showcases a village

Yesterday, the latest Kickstarter update for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was posted. With this one, we get another gameplay video, and this time around, it’s a village that’s showcased. Just like last time, the developers used procedural generation to create the environments of that village (click here to learn more about that).

Now, you might be wondering why there’s a village in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, which is supposed to take place in a castle… well, there’s actually a good reason for that. On your way to the castle entrance, you go through a nearby village, and… that’s pretty much it.

As you can see in the video below, the village is completely red, and that’s actually based on the eruption of the Laki volcanic fissure in 1783 and 1784. Naturally, this is not your average peaceful village: it has been attacked, and therefore, demons can be found roaming all over the place. There’s also going to be a shop, and players will be able to meet Johannes there.
