Azure Striker Gunvolt 2: first details about the story and characters, screenshots

Last week, we got our very first look at Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 during the latest Nintendo Direct presentation. Following that, Inti Creates revealed some details about the game on their official website, starting with a brief overview of the story.

The flames of war between adepts who possess supernatural septimal powers, and those who do not, are being fanned once again. Although some time has passed since his battle with the Sumeragi Group, Gunvolt is called back to the battlefield once more to confront a formidable new enemy.

As mentioned during the Nintendo Direct, the game will have two protagonists:

• Gunvolt, with the same “running & gunning, electrifying play style;”
• Copen, with his “high-flying,  acrobatic in-your-face play style.” Copen can dash, ram into enemies (which allows him to lock onto them), and then unleash a homing shot. And just like in the original, he can copy the abilities of bosses he’s defeated, and use them as his own.

Here’s some details about the main characters:

• Gunvolt (voiced by Kaito Ishikawa): a powerful adept who can control lightning. He uses a special gun that shoot darts: when locked onto an enemy, they allow him to unleash electric attacks with pinpoint accuracy. The soul of Joul (an adept) resides within him, and when they’re both synchronised, their powers are dramatically increased. Thanks to a chance meeting with a girl named Ouka, he managed to get back on his feet after the trauma caused by his previous battles.
• Copen (voiced by Kosuke Masuo): the son of a famous scientist, who made research to prove that Adepts were a danger to society. To honour his late father, he vows to eradicate them completely. He’s actually much stronger than many adepts, despite not having one ounce of septimal powers. Following the events of the first Azure Striker Gunvolt, Copen has completely revamped his gear, which is now designed for maximum mobility (which is how he’s able to perform such impressive and effective aerial attacks). He’s also accompanied by LoLo, a combat bot that assist him in battle and improve his offense, defense, and mobility.
• Ouka (voiced by Reina Kondo): an ordinary girl who was saved by Gunvolt after an unfortunate encounter with a murderous Adept. She’s been taking shelter at his home since then. Her family runs a massive financial conglomerate, and until she met Gunvolt, she lived on her own, away from society, in a large estate. She’s a kind and gentle girl, who has been providing tremendous moral support to Gunvolt.
