ARMS: more details about Ver. 2.0 (stats screen, Hedlok mode, more)
Last week, at the Japan Expo 2017, Kosuke Yabuki himself announced that Max Brass would be added as a playable fighter in ARMS on July 12th. It will come via a free Software update, bringing the game to Ver. 2.0.
Here’s a short video clip of the fighter select screen with Max Brass (who comes with his own stage, and three signature ARMS):

A bit later, the official Twitter account in Japan confirmed that the next update would include more than just the new characters: there will also be some “new elements”… Unfortunately, we were not told what those new elements would be!
Fortunately for us, it looks like that same Twitter account is actually going to share details about those new elements ahead of the update. First of all, we have the “Records” screen, where various stats are displayed:
- most frequently used ARMS
- hit rate
- victory rate
- and a lot more…
The stats are based on the last 100 matches (they are not lifetime stats). Quite interestingly, there’s a separate page for each major version (Ver. 2.0, Ver. 3.0, etc.), and once an update has been installed, you can no longer modify the stats from the previous version.
That way, you will be able to see your progression through time (since the stats are only based on the last 100 matches), but also get different stats for each set of balance “settings”. After all, you may end up using a specific character or ARM less following it being “nerfed”, for example.
By the way, the Record screen will also track elements added after an update, though only on the new pages (they will not be retroactively added, though that was obvious… you cannot track something that wasn’t there in the first place).
Here’s video clips of the “Record” screen:
[Ver.2]では「レコード」が追加されます!

「レコード」は今後[Ver.3][Ver.4]…と配信されるたび、新しいページが作られます。
前の戦績は、閲覧はできますが変更はできません。レコードは、アナタの成長記録になるわけですね!
集計内容も、今後の更新で追加をしていく予定です。ワタクシ共、ARMS協会を末永くよろしく! pic.twitter.com/Aeu65hEqEr— ARMS(アームズ) (@ARMS_Cobutter) July 11, 2017
But that’s not all: the update will also add a new VS mode featuring Hedlok. Basically, two or three players battle against Hedlok, and when you get the mask, your own character can turn into Hedlok. When that happens, the other players have to take you down. This new mode will be available offline and online, in every multiplayer mode.
The update will also bring various balance fixes, including some meant to avoid certain characters being able to win using the same technique over and over again (they’re coming for you, Ninjara’s grab spammers!).
The next update for ARMS (Ver. 2.0) will be released on July 12th worldwide. More details about the update (including patch notes) are available in this post.
