Ace Attorney 6: first scans show Phoenix Wright and new character, western release confirmed

Earlier today, Famitsu revealed that the 6th main entry in the Ace Attorney series was in development, and would be playable at the Tokyo Game Show 2015 on September 17-20. Since the game will first be revealed in the magazine, on Thursday, that means we are going to get the usual leaks beforehand… in fact, we already have some!

Gyakuten Saiban 6The scans below allow us to learn that Ace Attorney 6 is apparently not taking place in Japan. For a reason not mentionned in the magazine, Naruhodo Ryuichi (Phoenix Wright in English) end up traveling to an unnamed country, in which people strongly believe in the spirits of the dead. With his usual luck, he ends up involved in yet another case.

In the courtrooms of this country, there is some big Water Mirror (called Mizukagami in Japanese) on the floor. This is apparently one of the gameplay elements of the game, as on the top screen, we can see the face of the new character and words floating in the water. We also get to see the usual Testimony screen.

The new character is a young boy called Bokuto Tsuani (a pun meaning “On A Tour With Me” in Japanese), a monk-in-training who also works as a tour guide. Apparently, once he get in his “Tour Guide Mode”, there simply isn’t any way to stop him. He’s wearing some traditional clothes, along with a Magatama.

That, along with the “6” in the logo my imply a certain character will be back (though nothing is confirmed just yet, and there’s nothing about this in the scans below). As for Phoenix Wright, he looks even fiercer than he did in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies, for some reason!

Here’s the scans from Famitsu:

Also, Capcom confirmed to Shacknews that the game would be released outside Japan:

Capcom has confirmed with Shacknews Ace Attorney 6 will be receiving a western release. The company says, “Ace Attorney 6 (working title) will be coming to the west. We’ll have more information on the Western release soon.”

This was soon followed by a message from Capcom:

You heard Wright! Ace Attorney 6 (working title), announced in Japan today, is also in development for the west!

We should get an official announcement in the upcoming days/weeks.
