The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes to get (paid) DLC?

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force HeroesThe Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes came out last week in Europe, Japan, and of course North America. While beating all 32 levels may probably take less time than your average Zelda game, completing all the challenges and getting all the costumes is definitely going to take a long while. But even if you’re not quite done with everything the base game has to offer, it looks like additional content is already on the way!

Some hackers managed to look through the game files, and found some unused dialogue lines pointing towards downloadable content for the game. The text is not ambiguous in the slightest, as it directly mentions “new areas”, “purchase” and “add-on content”.

Here’s the text in question (with more to be found on this page):

Okay, let’s get real now. New areas of
the Drablands are now available for
purchase from Nintendo eShop.
Would you like to go to Nintendo
eShop to get more information?

No thanks

Based on that text, we can surmise that at least two new areas will be released as paid DLC. Unfortunately, we don’t know if Nintendo is going to release free additional content, or if everything will be paid. It looks like new costumes will also be added via DLC, though it’s not clear if they will be part of pack with the new Drablands areas or not.

One thing’s for sure though: players will have to download a Software update to be able to play the extra areas from the DLC:

To play the add-on content, a
software update is required. Close
the software and download the latest
update from Nintendo eShop?

No doubt Nintendo will make an announcement about the DLC in the upcoming weeks, most likely during a Nintendo Direct presentation.
