  • Fixed an issue with the Recycled Brella 24 Mk I that sometimes prevented it from firing if the canopy was destroyed at the same time as attempting to fire immediately after closing it.
  • Fixed an issue in which, after using Killer Wail 5.1 and performing a command that emptied the special gauge during a Super Jump, the next time the player used Killer Wail 5.1, the special gauge would instantly emptied empty the moment it was used.
  • Made it so that the New Squiffer’s aim would not become unstable by fixing an issue with the Zipcaster where, when the player took damage while jumping after clinging to a wall, their upper-body posture would become unintentionally unstable.
  • Fixed an issue in which, when defeating an opponent at the same time that they used Triple Splashdown, the sound effect indicating the activation of Triple Splashdown would sometimes not play even though the ink fists from Triple Splashdown would occur.
  • Fixed an issue in which the effects of the Respawn Punisher gear ability would be applied if a player was defeated by an opponent equipped with Respawn Punisher and then fell off the stage or into water before being defeated by another player.

  • Developer comments:
  • This update focuses on making changes to multiplayer.
  • For some main weapons, we’ve strengthened their unique characteristics or made them easier to handle.
  • For the Big Bubbler, we’ve changed it to increase the amount of time you can safely act by making it harder to destroy, even from positions that make it easy to attack the weak points.
  • For the Splattercolor Screen, we’ve changed it to make it easier to control opponents’ movements by increasing the risk of touching the screen.
  • For the Triple Splashdown, while it is difficult to time its use when opponents actively attempt to shoot the player down, it is extremely powerful when opponents don’t shoot the player down. Therefore, we have simultaneously changed it to make it harder to shoot down and narrowed the area of effect.
  • For the Kraken Royale, we changed it to ease an issue where, from the perspective of opposing players, it felt difficult to stop countdown progression when combining Kraken Royale with Super Jump in certain modes.
  • We plan on releasing the next update at the end of the current season. It will focus primarily on weapon balance adjustments and adding features for Sizzle Season 2024.
  • The next update is also planned to change it so that when a player’s rank in any mode is within rank 1,000 for the previous season’s X Rankings, the rank change due to the season switch will become S+0.
  • This change is to alleviate a problem making matchmaking in X Battles difficult immediately after the season switch for players with particularly high X Power.
  • Additional notes: this version is required to use the features that require an internet connection. Also, this version is not compatible with Ver. 7.1.0. and earlier in local multiplayer, or with Battle Replays created with Ver. 7.1.0 and earlier.

This update focuses on making tweaks to multiplayer. For main weapons, we made adjustments with the intention of making it easier to handle and utilize the strengths of some weapons, as well as adjusting the performance of some weapons that can hold the line in battle from a distance. For special weapons, we made changes that will create new ways to use them, expanding the range of gameplay. We plan on releasing the next update at the end of the current season. It will focus primarily on weapon balance adjustments and adding features for the new season starting in March.

  • Fixed an issue where an enemy’s Wave Breaker would sometimes still appear on their own screen even if another player used an Ink Vac to suck up and extinguish it.
  • Fixed an issue where, when a player used a Booyah Bomb at the same time as they blocked an enemy’s attack using the armor from a Squid Roll, Squid Surge, or Squid Spawn, the armor from the Booyah Bomb sometimes would not apply properly.

  • Fixed an issue in Clam Blitz mode where, when a clam or power clam that rebounded off terrain entered the other team’s basket at the same time as it touched a teammate, the teammate would acquire the clam or power clam that should have gone in the basket, despite the fact that it counted as a score.

  • Implemented measures to address an issue in special Rush waves where players sometimes took damage from Salmonids if they were moving forward at high speed while splatting the Salmonid with a roller.

  • Fixed an issue with the locker where stickers stuck to the locker would sometimes display in a disarrayed manner when selecting certain decorations.
  • Developers’ notes:

This update focuses on adding special Splatfest data and making tweaks to multiplayer. We have made it easier to utilize the strengths of some main weapons and increased the options for other main weapons that fulfill similar roles.

Aditionally, we made it easier to battle with main weapons that are paired with Curling Bombs.

We have also made adjustments to some special weapons. We adjusted the amount of damage that the Killer Wail 5.1 deals to compensate for the fact that many players are now used to dodging it. For the Kraken Royale, we made adjustments to give players additional options outside of a charge attack. For the Trizooka, we made it more difficult to splat opponents by accident, while preserving the ability for players to splat opponents by aiming well and firing two consecutive shots. For Tenta Missiles, we made adjustments to reduce instances where players still took damage even if they took measures to evade enemy missiles.

This update focuses on adding features for Drizzle Season 2023, which starts in September, and adjusting the balance of battles.

For battles, we’ve added new main weapons, powered up some special weapons, and made adjustments to certain weapons and gear abilities.

For special weapons, we’ve made adjustments to improve usability, and we’ve improved the Zipcaster in particular to make it easier to use in close-quarter fights while active.

Our next update is planned for the middle of Drizzle Season 2023 and should primarily focus on balance adjustments.

  • Developers’ notes:

This update focuses on making tweaks to multiplayer. We have improved certain weapons to make them easier to use and modified some less popular weapons to be a bit closer to popular weapons in performance. We hope this will encourage a wider selection of weapon usage. Additionally, we have made adjustments to some sub weapons to make them easier to use in conjunction with main weapons. We have also adjusted some special weapons. In addition to similar adjustments mentioned above to encourage a wider selection of usage, we’ve dialed back the performance of some special weapons that had been modified in the past. Their specifications are now closer to the original weapon specifications. We plan on releasing the next update at the end of the current season. It will focus primarily on further weapon balance adjustments and adding features for the new season starting in September.

This update focuses on adding features for Sizzle Season 2023, which starts in June, as well as adding Challenges and the Anarchy Battle (Open) features. It also adjusts the balance of battles and Salmon Run.

Regarding Challenges, we have implemented the features of League Battles from Splatoon 2 separately. Special events like tournaments and monthly battles are now a part of Challenges, while you’ll be able to test your skills with friends anytime in Anarchy Battle (Open).

In terms of battle adjustments, we’ve added new main weapons, powered up some special weapons, and made adjustments to certain weapons.

In particular, the Sloshing Machine was designed for fighting in places with height differences or lots of obstacles, but it has proven highly effective even in battles in flat places. So, by lengthening the interval between continuous swings, we’ve maintained the characteristic wide attack range while decreasing its ability to defeat opponents.

For the Splatana Stamper, we’ve increased the accuracy of the aim for follow-up attacks with horizontal slashes and lowered the ability to continue fighting solo, all while maintaining the unique nature of fighting by relying on the powerful charged slash (which balances a wide inking range and high attack performance).

Regarding the Splash-o-matic and the Neo Splash-o-matic, we’ve made adjustments to slightly alleviate the situation where they are able to effectively exchange fire with foes at a greater distance than intended.

Our next update is planned for the middle of Sizzle Season 2023 and will primarily focus on balance adjustments.

Bug Fixes

Fixes to Player Controls

  • Fixed an issue that caused the distance a player could move after spawning onto a stage but before landing on the ground to change if they adjusted the direction of the camera.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused an ink-spray animation to play when a player changed into swim form midair.
  • Fixed an issue where it was sometimes difficult to get on top of a wall when swimming up a wall with a grate above it.
  • Fixed an issue that made it possible to use throwing-type special weapons slightly faster than intended by activating the special weapon in the interval between pressing the ZR Button and when the ink actually fired.
  • Fixed an issue that made it difficult to ink the ground when a blaster was fired while directly adjacent to a wall.
  • Fixed an issue where the ink consumed by a horizontal swing of a roller while moving was slightly more than when a horizontal swing was performed while standing still.
  • Fixed an issue where the animation appeared to show ink flying on the player’s screen even if another player was using a roller that was out of ink.
  • Fixed an issue where the intended sound effect would not play on the player’s screen when another player was swinging a brush while out of ink.
  • Fixed an issue where, when a player Super Jumped and opened a brella just before landing, foes who touched that brella and were pushed by it sometimes clipped inside the terrain.
  • Fixed an issue where, when brellas with different durabilities clashed and one of them broke, the one that remained sometimes was not damaged.
  • Fixed an issue where the area for Splat Brellas and Undercover Brellas blocking enemy shots was smaller than it appeared.

      • The damage reduction from equipping the maximum gear abilities will not change.
    Opening Gambit
    • If a player splats or assists in splatting an enemy while this gear ability is in effect, the effect will now be extended by roughly 15.0 seconds instead of roughly 7.5 seconds.
    • Made it so that the Intensify Action gear ability will also occur when this gear ability is in effect.
      • The effect is equivalent to 3.0 primary gear abilities.
  • Points required for some special weapons have been changed.
    Weapon Before After
    Carbon Roller Deco 200 190
    .96 Gal Deco 200 210
  • The sound effects for an opponent’s Kraken Royale are now easier to hear from a distance.

Changes to Salmon Run

  • Made the interval between touching a Golden Egg and being able to use it roughly the same for all players.
    • By adjusting the animation speed when a Golden Egg goes into a non-host-player’s life ring, the interval between touching a Golden Egg and being able to use it is now roughly the same for the host and non-host players.
    • However, if communication delays exceed a certain level, the timing may not be the same as the host player.

This update focuses on adding Splatfest data, adjusting Splatfest Points, and making tweaks to online multiplayer. For Splatfest Points, adjustments to the Halftime Report should make it feel less like the winning team has already been decided. For main weapons, the changes should highlight the unique traits of weapons and strengthen certain combinations of sub and special weapons. For sub weapons, the changes should create more ways to use certain sub weapons, as well as curtail strategies that employed repetitive use of certain sub weapons. For special weapons, we have reviewed and made adjustments to the performance of each special weapon now that the usage of special weapons new to Splatoon 3 is better established. For the new special weapon Kraken Royale, its basic abilities are unchanged, but it has been adjusted in certain modes to reduce unfavorable circumstances. For Salmon Run, the changes should ensure that lag will be minimal no matter which system is the host. It’s possible that selection of the host system for wireless play in any or all game modes may change, either by adding a feature or improving communication efficiency. Therefore, we are taking steps to minimize lag regardless of which system is the host. We plan on releasing the next update at the end of the current season. It will focus primarily on balance adjustments and adding features for the new season starting in June.

  • Data relating to the upcoming Big Run event has been added.
  • Data relating to the limited-time Eggstra Work event has been added.

    • Both the initial hazard level and the job scenario for Eggstra Work are fixed, which means that every team will face off against the same Salmonids under the same conditions every time. However, if your team manages to exceed the Golden Eggs quota by enough, your hazard level will go up, making it possible to get a higher score.
  • You will now be able to preview items when exchanging fish scales, similar to how you can preview items at Hotlantis, etc.
Changes to Connectivity
  • Made it so that players will be notified when their connection is unstable. If the connection continues to be unstable, player controls will temporarily be disabled.
Changes to Splatfests
  • Changed the amount of XP required to level up a Splatfest Tee. Splatfest Tees with more gear abilities will no longer require more XP to level up than those with fewer gear abilities.

    • Up to 10 players can join a room for Tableturf Battle.
    • If two players in the same room take a seat at the Tableturf Battle tables on the second floor of the lobby, a game between the two will commence.
    • You can watch a game between two players by approaching them and pressing the A Button.
    • You can also play with nearby friends via the same process at the Shoal. Up to eight players can join a room for Tableturf Battle at the Shoal.

Other Changes
  • Increased the number of badges that can be obtained based on player level.
  • Increased the number of items on display in the gear shop at once to nine.
  • Any titles, banners, decorations, badges, or emotes from previous catalogs that haven’t been obtained will now be available in the Shell-Out Machine.
  • Increased the image quality on some screens in Photo Mode.
  • Increased the amount of time before screen burn-in reduction activates in certain modes, such as while playing Story Mode or viewing replays.
  • To improve the matchmaking efficiency in Open Anarchy Battles, teams will be disbanded and new players will be added if only a few current players select Keep Going.
    • As before, when playing in a group with friends, the team will stay together regardless of the number of players remaining.

This update focuses on adding support for the Inkopolis portion of the Splatoon 3: Expansion Pass – Inkopolis & Side Order DLC, as well as adding data and features relating to Fresh Season 2023 and making adjustments to battles. For battles, changes are primarily focused on ensuring special-weapon balance. We’ve made other changes with the intent of curtailing strategies that employed repetitive use of certain sub weapons. By analyzing data in this state at an early stage, we hope to release update data that includes main-weapon adjustments before long. For Salmon Run, we have introduced the limited-time Eggstra Work event in addition to a new King Salmonid enemy. There will be one or two Eggstra Work events during Fresh Season 2023. For now, you’ll need a group of players to participate in Eggstra Work, but we will consider adding the option to join as a solo player in the future. In addition to this, we have implemented various features, improvements large and small, and bug fixes. We plan on releasing the next update sometime around the end of March or the first half of April, and it will focus primarily on balance adjustments.

Bug Fixes

Fixes to Player Controls

  • Fixed an issue that caused some players who changed direction quickly to look unstable for a short while on other players’ screens.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed players to do a Squid Roll for a brief time when jumping from an inked floor onto an un-inked floor while touching a wall.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented players from being able to submerge themselves in ink on the ground if landing on the ground while touching an un-inked wall.
  • Fixed an issue where players who held the R button after doing a Squid Roll off a wall could end up in the pose for using a Curling Bomb, Fizzy Bomb, or Smallfry.
  • Fixed an issue where players who did a horizontal swing with a roller and made contact with a Torpedo after it changed shape could sometimes be pushed back slightly.
  • Fixed an issue where players who attacked an enemy with a roller by rolling into them—but did not splat them—could sometimes be pushed in an unintended direction.
  • Fixed an issue where, if certain special weapons were activated while a roller was being lifted up, ink would still fly forward, even if the roller’s movement was cut off by the activation of the special.
  • Fixed an issue that made the ink from a Carbon Roller, Carbon Roller Deco, or Flingza Roller look like a different texture than that of the ink from other rollers.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the barrel of a charger to move a lot when standing still and firing with low charge, causing the aim and trajectory to greatly differ from what was intended.
  • Fixed an issue where, if another player did a Dodge Roll as they slipped through a grate, that player would appear on other players’ screens in a different place than they actually were for a longer time than expected.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a delay of up to one second before damage to a brella began to recover if the brella was closed directly after blocking damage from a foe.
  • Fixed an issue that caused brellas fired on a slanted surface to tilt up and down more than usual.
  • Fixed an issue that caused brellas to be able to climb up steep inclines that they normally wouldn’t be able to climb.
  • Fixed an issue where, if your brella was broken the moment you launched it, it would appear broken on your screen but continue moving on other players’ screens.
  • Fixed an issue that made other players using a Splatana Wiper appear to have ink in their weapon to everyone else, even if they were out of ink.
  • Fixed an issue that enabled players to climb to otherwise unreachable high terrain in rare cases when getting pushed back after touching an enemy’s Splash Wall.
  • Fixed an issue that enabled players to climb otherwise unreachable high walls in certain stages while in Crab Tank’s mobile mode.

  • Fixed an issue that sometimes sent a player’s Wave Breaker far away when they tried placing it on an edge.
  • Fixed an issue where players may not be returned to the spot where they activated a Zipcaster or Inkjet special if they activated it right after landing on a grate in swim form after a Super Jump and subsequently fell off the stage.

  • Fixed an issue where, if you splatted a player who had a gear ability enabling them to see through terrain equipped (like Thermal Ink or Haunt, etc.) using a special weapon that has an ink tank (like Inkjet, etc.), sometimes the ink tank would be the only thing the splatted player could see through terrain when they respawned.
  • Adjusted the density of the border of Splat Zones when displayed through terrain and addressed an issue with visibility depending on ink color.
  • Fixed an issue in Tower Control where using a Crab Tank on terrain around the tower would sometimes cause the Crab Tank to take control of the tower even if it wasn’t on the tower.
  • Fixed an issue in Rainmaker that caused players to sometimes clip into the terrain if they got caught between the terrain and the Rainmaker shield.
  • Fixed an issue in Rainmaker where performing a Super Jump onto checkpoints or the goal at a particular moment as they rose sometimes made players clip into them.
  • Fixed an issue in Clam Blitz where the splash of ink that displays when throwing a power clam looked different than intended.
  • Fixed an issue in Clam Blitz where, if an enemy’s power clam was sitting on top of a closed basket, it would automatically count as the power clam going into the basket when the basket reappeared.
  • Fixed an issue in Clam Blitz where, if you repeatedly throw and pick up clams for a short time, clams you picked up would sometimes not display or follow you.
  • Fixed an issue in Clam Blitz where breaking an opponent’s barrier as time ran out in a special three-minute overtime after a scoreless regular match would not count.
  • Fixed an issue in Turf War and Splat Zones modes that allowed you to climb over certain obstacles and cross terrain in unintended ways on the Scorch Gorge stage.

  • Fixed an issue in Sturgeon Shipyard where, if another player Super Jumped onto a moving drawbridge, they would appear on other players’ screens as having landed on the ground regardless of whether or not they actually landed on the drawbridge.
  • Fixed an issue in MakoMart that sometimes caused players to become stuck in the terrain.
  • Fixed an issue in Wahoo World that allowed players to unintentionally climb certain walls.

This update focuses on adjustments related to battles.

A lot of the adjustments to main weapons were made to lessen the impact on some of the weapons from Splatoon 2 where the increased performance of the gear ability was negated in Splatoon 3.

Regarding changes to Ninja Squid, while mitigating the issue where players would lose sight of each other when shooting at each other from a relatively short distance, we’re also intentionally maintaining the way to approach opponents with longer ranges.

We reduced the amount needed to fill special gauges for some weapons and within that group strengthened some frequently used short-range weapons to increase player options.

We increased the amount needed to fill special gauges for some weapons and within that group curtailed somewhat the tactic of using sub weapons and special weapons to attack from a distance.

We also made some adjustments to increase the manifestation of special weapons.

The next update will focus on new features and weapon balance for the start of the new season in March. The update is planned for the end of the current season.

    • X Power is calculated separately for each battle mode like Splat Zones or Tower Control.

    • The world is divided into two divisions in which X Battles are held to compete for the highest X Power: Takoroka Division, comprising Japan, Hong Kong, S. Korea, Australia, and New Zealand; and Tentatek Division, comprising the Americas and Europe.
    • The division a player is affiliated with is determined the first time they play in an X Battle each season. Once this is determined, the division cannot be changed during that season.
    • X Battles will become available to play on November 30th at the same time as Chill Season 2022 begins.

Changes to Ranked

  • Added a feature allowing players to purposely reset their rank.

  • Added a feature to save and replay job scenarios.
    • A job scenario is the collected overall data comprising elements of a single job shift like stage, weapon array, appearing Salmonids, and special events.
    • Players can save job scenarios from the Recent Jobs screen at the Grizzco terminal.
    • Players can reproduce a scenario and attempt it as many times as they like by creating a Private Job room, then pressing the ZL Button to select a scenario.
    • Job scenarios can be shared with other players via the code issued when the scenario is saved.
      • Note: By entering a code at the Grizzco terminal, you can also download and save other players’ scenarios.

    Boss Salmonid Change Details
    Big Shot
    • Movement speed is now about 30% slower than before.
      • In addition to lowering the Big Shot’s attack frequency, this also lengthens the amount of time it spends walking on land, increasing the players’ window of opportunity to attack.
    • The animation played as the Big Shot’s shot comes flying in will be shown for longer than before, making it easier to determine where the shot was fired from.
  • The performance of some special weapons has been changed.
    Special Weapon Change Details
    Killer Wail 5.1
    • Increased the precision with which it tracks Boss Salmonids.
    • Damage dealt increased by about 25%.

    Booyah Bomb
    • Player will no longer be a target for most Salmonid attacks while charging up the Booyah Bomb.
  • The number of Boss Salmonids that can appear at once has been capped at 15.
    • When defeating Boss Salmonids at a regular pace, even at high hazard levels, players will not reach this limit. This change was made because, in cases where players are chased down by bosses they cannot splat, the appearance of too many bosses can slow the game down and make it more difficult than necessary to get things back under control.

Changes to Splatfests

  • Tricolor Battles have been modified so that all players can play on the attacking or defending team regardless of the halftime results.
    • Players can join by themselves or in a pair with a friend. When playing by themselves, they will be paired with another solo player, same as before.
    • A group of eight will be created from four pairs, and a 2 vs. 4 vs. 2 Tricolor Battle will commence.
    • Players do not know whether they will be on an attacking team or the defending team until the battle begins.
    • Players have a fifty-fifty chance of being on an attacking team or the defending team, regardless of their Splatfest-team affiliation.
    • Depending on population ratios for Splatfest teams, there may be Tricolor Battles where all eight players are on the same Splatfest team. In these cases, Clout will not be calculated.
  • Clout earned in Tricolor Battles will now be calculated in the Final Results, and the points awarded for each category have been adjusted.
  • Part of the way Clout is calculated for Tricolor Battles has changed.
    • Increased the victory bonus for the defending team.
    • When the team in first place at halftime is the defending team and the attacking teams are from the second- or third-place teams, 1.5 times more Clout will be awarded for a victory.
  • When you win a 10x, 100x, or 333x Battle, it will be shown at your Pledge Box.
  • After winning a 100x or 333x Battle, you can board your team’s float from your Pledge Box to take commemorative pictures.

Changes to Lockers

  • T-shirt gear items can now be folded for storage by pressing the L Stick while placing the shirt.
  • When pressing B to cancel placement, the locker will now return to the immediately previous state before you grabbed anything.

Other Changes

  • Players can now enter Photo Mode from Recon Mode.
    • Players can use Photo Mode not only by themselves but also when entering Recon Mode with multiple people by way of Private Battles.
  • When walking a stage in recon by oneself, a player can call an amiibo to take pictures with.
  • Added a feature to temporarily use a different player name than usual when playing Private Battles over the internet.
    • The idea is, for one example, to be able to add a team name into one’s player name, only in Private Battles.
    • When creating or joining a group for a Private Battle, you can temporarily set a different name by pressing the L Button.
  • The song title and artist of the background music will now be shown at the beginning of battle.
  • In the Equip screen, when a player has a lot of weapons or gear, it will now be clear what page of items is being shown.
  • In the Equip screen, when sorting by gear ability, abilities that do not exist on the items being sorted will no longer appear as sorting options.
  • Added a feature for listening again to Sheldon’s weapon explanations in Ammo Knights.
    • Players can use this feature by putting their cursor over the weapon they want to hear the explanation for again and pressing the ZR Button.
  • Added a badge related to using the Shell-Out Machine.
    • Previous usage up to this point is counted toward badge progress.

This update focuses on adding data and new features relating to Chill Season 2022, adjustments to battles and Salmon Run, and changes to Tricolor Battles. For battles, besides an adjustment to reducing attack frequency for the battle style of repeatedly firing Tenta Missiles from afar, we also focused on updates to increase some weapons’ ease of use. For Salmon Run, in addition to lowering the Big Shot’s attack frequency and giving players more chance to damage it by lowering its movement speed, we implemented changes to improve factors that made some special weapons difficult to use. For Splatfests, as announced in the previous update, we made significant changes to the Tricolor Battle mode. In addition to this are various added features and improvements large and small and bug fixes. Our next update is planned for the middle of Chill Season 2022 and should focus on balance adjustments upon analysis of data from the newly added weapons.

Bug Fixes

Fixes to Player Controls

  • Fixed an issue where standing on the edge of a sponge of the opponents’ color and jumping would let players do a jump of the same height as the regular ground.
  • Fixed an issue where a player being moved involuntarily by things like a Splash Wall or a Salmonid’s attack would cause them to not be shown in the proper position on another player’s screen.
  • Fixed an issue where players going into swim form on thin floors could allow some attacks to damage them from the opposite side of the terrain.
  • Fixed an issue where swimming on a wall and quickly doing a Squid Surge would allow the player to jump higher than intended when wearing gear with a lot of Intensify Action abilities.
  • Fixed an issue where doing a Super Jump onto a sponge would cause the player to land in midair.

This update focuses on adjusting some weapons, improving several features, and fixing bugs that relate to battles.

We’ve implemented several adjustments to curtail to a certain extent the style of play where the player stays far removed from the action and continually uses sub weapons or special weapons. This patch prioritizes bug fixes, and other adjustments to weapons will continue in the next update.

In addition, we’ve reduced the amount of time matchmaking takes for certain modes, reduced battle latency, and made small convenience improvements to the lobby and more.

The next update will focus on new features for the season beginning in December, weapon balance changes, and changes to the Splatfest Tricolor Attack mode. It is scheduled to be released at the end of the current season.

  • Fixed an issue with Photo Mode where the Y Button’s camera reset would not work while taking a photo with the timer.
  • Fixed an issue with Photo Mode where the image shown as a preview and the photo actually saved to the album would differ greatly when shooting at certain camera angles.
  • Fixed an issue with joining and dropping in on friends where, when everyone has pressed “Ready!” inputting certain controls could cause matchmaking not to proceed even after the timer reaches zero.
  • Fixed an issue with joining and dropping in on friends where opening the lobby menu at a certain time would make the controls stop working and ultimately disband everyone.
  • Fixed an issue where the ghost of a friend who appeared in the lobby or at Grizzco via notification message would differ in appearance from that player’s actual appearance.

Splatoon 3 – Ver. 1.1.2

  • Release date: September 29th 2022 (North America) / September 30th 2022 (Europe, Japan)
  • Maintenance: Yes (more details)
  • Patch notes:

Changes to Connectivity

  • Implemented additional measures to reduce the frequency of communication errors following battles and job shifts.

Changes to Player Controls

  • Fixed an issue where players using dualies would stop attacking and enter swim form at the end of a Dodge Roll regardless of whether they were holding the ZR Button.
  • Fixed an issue with the Drop Roller gear ability where the player would enter swim form at the end of their Drop Roll if they pressed the ZR Button while holding the ZL Button during the Drop Roll, regardless of whether they continued holding the ZR Button.
  • Fixed an issue with splatanas that caused players to perform two sequential horizontal slashes following a charged slash even if they only pressed the ZR Button once.

Changes to Multiplayer

  • Fixed an issue where players would not take damage for a certain amount of time after their Booyah Bomb armor was broken.
  • Implemented measures to prevent issues where players would clip through and get stuck in terrain when turning from swim form into humanoid form near a Tacticooler placed in the corner of certain maps.

Other Changes

  • Fixed an issue where the game would crash when the player finished editing their locker with a photo stand placed in the locker.
  • Fixed an issue with receiving a new catalog after reaching catalog level 100, where a communication error happening or the game crashing could result in the catalog-receiving event not triggering.
    • (In cases where this issue has already occurred, the catalog-receiving event will play again once the player has restarted the software and entered Hotlantis.)
  • Fixed an issue relating to Super Sea Snails. If you were unable to receive Super Sea Snails from the first Splatfest, the final-results news broadcast will replay and you will now be able to collect your Super Sea Snails.

Because this update patch focuses on additional fixes to connection-related issues and fixes to some control and battle-related issues, we have prioritized its release.

We identified an issue where communications with the server are interrupted during a battle or job shift due to settings on the player’s network equipment and their internet provider.

We have implemented measures to reduce communication interruptions and reduce subsequent errors after a battle or job shift even if an interruption does occur.

Additionally, we have implemented provisional fixes regarding some problems that affect the feeling and feedback of controls while playing.

In the case of the issue with clipping through terrain when using a Tacticooler, we decided that it was more important to quickly release a solution that mitigates the issue rather than hold out for a “perfect fix.”

Furthermore, if players are found to be harassing other players or otherwise violating Nintendo’s Community Guidelines by intentionally exploiting game bugs, we are actively taking measures including suspension of online play.

The next patch will focus primarily on balance adjustments and other issues that were outside the scope of the current patch.

We continue to observe and analyze battle data and are planning to make further adjustments around the midpoint of the current season.

  • Additional notes: this version is required to use the features that require an internet connection. Also, this version is not compatible with Ver. 1.1.1 in local multiplayer, and Battle Replays created with Ver. 1.1.1 and earlier.

Splatoon 3 – Ver. 1.1.1

  • Release date: September 15th 2022 (North America) / September 16th 2022 (Europe, Japan)
  • Patch notes:

Changes to Splatfests

  • The rate of Tricolor Battle occurrence has been adjusted. From the defending team’s perspective, they will trigger somewhat less frequently than before.

Changes to Player Controls

  • Fixed an issue where it was possible to jump farther than usual with a Squid Roll by performing a certain input while charging a Squid Surge.
  • Fixed issues that appeared when playing for a long time without closing the software, such as shots from the player’s main weapon not firing correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where the player could move through the surface of the water or stand on water when moving quickly. For example, when performing a Dodge Roll with Splat Dualies.

Changes to Multiplayer

  • Fixed an issue where connection errors occurred with high frequency at the end of battles due to connection environment.
  • Fixed an issue with the Bloblobber where the collision detection of the third and fourth blobs of a single volley became extremely small.
  • Fixed an issue where cash and experience were not being awarded in certain circumstances when a battle ended early due to a lack of players.
  • Fixed an issue where, in certain modes, a player would be unable to cancel matchmaking when not enough other players were gathered. Matchmaking will now be canceled automatically after a certain amount of time has passed.
  • Fixed an issue in Sturgeon Shipyard in which it was possible to enter the back side of certain drawbridges.

Changes to Salmon Run

  • Fixed an issue where connection errors occurred with high frequency at the end of jobs due to connection environment.
  • Fixed an issue with Mudmouth Eruption events in which Mudmouths moved in unintended ways.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some players with identical titles to be considered “rank supporters” and not gain Rank Points.
  • Fixed an issue where continuously damaging a submerged Maws with certain special weapons would cause the game to crash.
  • Fixed an issue where players were becoming trapped within the stage terrain.
  • Fixed an issue where, at the end of battle, the amount of Grizzco Points earned would be shown as smaller than the amount actually added to save data, which caused cases where the player could not collect rewards.
  • Fixed an issue where the messages at the beginning of Wave 3 could change based on whether or not a King Salmonid would appear.

Changes to Story Mode

  • Fixed an issue where, after clearing the final stage, a communication error would occur in the middle of a certain scene and return the player to the square.
    • The post-clear cutscenes can be viewed by clearing the final stage again.
    • In cases where this error occurred, the final stage is treated as cleared, and the stage can be skipped from the pause menu when reattempting.

Other Changes

  • Fixed an issue when starting the game for the first time in which the game could get stuck and not advance from the black screen after the screen where yellow and blue ink mix together.
  • Fixed an issue when downloading a battle replay that occasionally caused the game to not advance.
  • Fixed an issue in which the game would crash when the schedule was updated while attempting to join a friend.
  • Fixed a rare issue where the game would crash while the player was visiting a shop.
  • Fixed an issue where a communication error could occur while a player traded in gear at a shop.
  • Fixed an issue where a connection error could occur when buying a weapon. A player would seem to then have the weapon equipped despite not having been able to buy it, which would cause a connection error if the player attempted to join a battle.

Because this update patch focuses on Splatfest-related changes and addresses bugs that can have significant effect on game progress, we have prioritized its release.

Please note that the changes to Tricolor Battle frequency should be considered temporary. For now, there will be somewhat more instances of players selecting Tricolor Battle but being placed in a Turf War battle instead. Going forward, Splatfest-matchmaking specifications will continue to be adjusted, and this issue will be rectified. We are planning to implement these adjustments with the new season beginning in December.

The next patch will focus primarily on balance adjustments and other issues that were outside the scope of the current patch.

We continue to observe and analyze battle data and are planning to make adjustments at the midpoint of the current season.
