Worms W.M.D. headed to the Nintendo Switch later this year, footage

Lots of games were announced for the Nintendo Switch in the past few weeks, especially at PAX West… so many that we’re still catching up with all the announcements! In this post, we’re going to talk about a game that’s definitely going to appeal to players looking for a game mixing strategy and party games: Worms W.M.D, which is headed to the Nintendo Switch before the end of the year.

For those of you who never heard of Worms before, it’s a series of (mostly) 2D strategy / party game, where you get to control… well, worms. Your goal is to defeat your opponents using the weapons and equipment at your disposal. The focus is on humour with the fun animations and behaviour of the worms, and obviously the iconic weapons (concrete Donkey or Super Sheep, anyone?).

Worms W.M.D. specifically features a “gorgeous, hand-drawn 2D look”, but also new weapons (alongside the return of some much-love classic weapons), and more. It introduces crafting, vehicles, and inhabitable buildings, which are new additions to the series.

Naturally, the Nintendo Switch version of the game will offer the full Worms experience: all the campaign missions, all the levels, all the customisations and updates are there! That includes the Liberation theme and campaign update, as well as Forts Mode.

What’s more, Worms W.M.D. on Nintendo Switch will also launch with exclusive content:

  • A brand new theme – Space!
  • Two new Forts – Mushroom and Tree House.
  • New customisations including three new outfits and three new gravestones to mourn the passing of your portable invertebrate pals.

As for Nintendo Switch features, Team17 confirms that the game would be played in local and online multiplayer, and would support single Joy-Con play (allowing you to play with anyone, anywhere, with just the console and the game).

Here’s the reveal trailer for Worms W.M.D. on Nintendo Switch:

Worms W.M.D. (Switch – eShop) will be released before the end of the year in Europe and North America. It has been added to the Upcoming Games page!
