World to the West delayed to unspecified date on Wii U, screens

World to the West is the latest game from Rain Games, the developers of Teslagrad. As a matter of fact, it just so happens that both take place in the same universe! This one is described as a “pulpy, cartoony, top down action adventure inspired by European adventure comics”, and has players control four unique characters (click here for more details and a trailer).

It was originally supposed to release tomorrow (May 5th), but last week, Rain Games announced that the Wii U version would be delayed to an unspecified date. The reason? The developers actually found a few ways to improve performance, but it will take a while to implement them to the full game.

And so, they decided to delay the Wii U version in order to keep improving it, rather than launching it in its current state and add the improvements at a later date via a patch. For them, it was important that early adopters enjoy a smooth gameplay experience, especially since first impressions do matter a lot.

While this delay is definitely going to hurt potential sales, poor performances also would have. If anything, Rain Games should be commended for taking the time to properly polish the Wii U version, when so many indies have made the choice to simply cancel such a version in favour of the Nintendo Switch (a pretty logical choice, mind you).

Finally, here’s some more screenshots for the game:

The new release date for World to the West on Wii U will be announced at a later date. The Upcoming Releases page has already been updated!
