Tokyo Game Show: over 268 000 visitors in 2015, number of games per platform

The Tokyo Game Show 2015 took place last week in Japan (From Thursday to Sunday), and it was pretty successful: a total of 268 000 persons attended, which is more than last year (251 831 visitors), but less than the record year of 2013 (270 197 visitors). As for companies, 480 attended in 2015 (246 from outside Japan), compared to 421 in 2014. In total, over 1 280 games were on display at the Tokyo Game Show this year.

  • Thursday, September 17th: 29 580 visitors (27 786 in 2014)
  • Friday, September 18th: 29 557 visitors (28 647 in 2014)
  • Saturday, September 19th: 97 601 visitors (92 308 in 2014), including 10 360 visitors for the Family Corner
  • Sunday, September 20th: 112 230 visitors (103 391 in 2014), including 14 517 visitors for the Family Corner
  • Total: 268 446 visitors (251 832 in 2014), including 24 877 for the Family Corner (15 196 in 2014)

NB: only Saturday and Sunday were opened to the general public. Also, a visitor is counted for each day, which means that someone attending all 4 days would be counted as 4 visitors.

TGS games 2015Unsurprisingly, the Nintendo 3DS is down this year, which is not all that surprising given it will most likely get a successor next year. As for the Wii U, the sudden increase of games is due to indie games now being counted for each platform separately.

Next year, the Tokyo Game Show will take place on September 15th to September 18th, at the Makuhari Messe (Chiba).
