Super Nintendo World: Donkey Kong Country area delayed to late 2024 at Universal Studios Japan

Last year, Nintendo and Universal Studios Japan announced that Super Nintendo World in Osaka would soon get a Donkey Kong-themed area (logically called Donkey Kong Country). It was initially slated to open in Spring 2024, but today, Universal Studios Japan announced that its opening has been delayed to late 2024.

The announcement doesn’t specify why the opening was delayed, though it’s probably safe to assume that it’s due to construction taking longer than expected. The new opening date for the Donkey Koung Country area at Super Nintendo World, along with additional details, will be announced in the future.

The Donkey Kong Country area at Universal Studios Japan is going to expand the total size of Super Nintendo World by 1.7. The brand new, jungle-themed area will feature a new attraction: Donkey Kong’s Crazy Trolley, a roller-coaster. There’s also some new activities making use of the Power Up Bands, which are getting two new designs (Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong).
