Squid Girl x Splatoon Collaboration

Last week, Famitsu and Weekly Shonen Champion announced a special Squid Girl X Splatoon collaboration. In the next issue of both magazines (coming out today in Japan), there is special illustrations by Masahiro Anbe (author of the Ika Musume / Squid Girl manga).

But it turns out that the Squid Research Lab also had its own collaboration illustration!

Girls Mode 3

In order to promote Splatoon, Nintendo has started distributing some special clothes in Girls Mode 3: KiraKira Code. The Squid Research Lab gave us a little preview yesterday, but today, we get a better look at them!

Today, the Squid Research Lab posted several messages on the official Twitter account for Splatoon. The first one is about a special gauge, that goes up/down depending on your performances online. However, it’s reset at each map rotation.

Next, they posted a picture of the Splatoon amiibo, available today in Japan:

They also showed the gauge below: when it’s filled, Ranked Battle modes will be unlocked. It’s a worldwide count, so obivously things will go much faster when the game is available (officially) in Europe and North America!

Finally, various tidbits about Splatoon!

First, Nintendo opened a new section on the game’s official website: players ranking for the past few maps rotations! It even shows the gear each one of the top players was using.

Nintendo also posted a Splatified picture of their HQ:

If you pre-loaded the game on the Nintendo eShop, you will need to download an update to unlock the game. This update only requires 44MB of free space on your external HDD.

Splatoon (Wii U) comes out tomorrow in Europe and North America!
