Splatoon: new update coming in a few hours (Ver. 2.5.0), patch notes

Splatoon 1Last week, Nintendo added the very last weapon for Splatoon: the Custom Hydra Splatling. After that, there will be one last map (Ancho-V Games), and then disitribution of additional content for the game will be over. After that, Nintendo will keep on releasing new updates for the game when needed, such as the one coming in a few hours.

This new update for Splatoon comes roughly one month since the previous one, and will bring the game to Ver. 2.5.0. Since Nintendo is basically done with additional content, it’s not surprising that this update will not add anything whatsoever. It mostly consists of bug fixes, and map modifications to prevent players from doing things they are not supposed to do (like reach unreachable areas).

Here’s the official patch notes for Ver. 2.5.0:

Stage Adjustments:

  • Walleye Warehouse: Adjustments will be made to object placement in Rainmaker Mode.
  • Arowana Mall: Adjustments will be made to prevent users from taking certain shortcuts in all modes.
  • Piranha Pit: Adjustments will be made to prevent users from taking certain shortcuts in Tower Control Mode.

Battle Adjustments

  • Museum D’Alfonsino: Fix the issue in modes other than Tower Control in which the area around the central rotating platform was registering as being inked in unintended ways.
  • Mahi-Mahi Resort: Fix the issue In Rainmaker Mode in which breaking the Rainmaker barrier while in the central area caused the special gauge to fill more than intended.

Other

  • Adjustments have been made to make for a more pleasant gaming experience.

This update will require only 124MB of free space on your Wii U or external HDD (766MB if you just got the game and/or haven’t downloaded any updates yet), which shows that it does not include any additional content. To download it, you have several options:

  • let the console do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated. You should have the latest version the next time you lanch the game;
  • if not, you can launch Splatoon from the Home Menu (not the Quick Start Menu) in order to trigger the download and installation of the update.

To check that you have the latest version of the game, simply launch it. You should see this at the bottom right corner of the screen:
