Splatoon 3: Splatoon Turf Quiz now available in JR East trains in Japan

If you’ve ever taken the train on the JR East network these past few years, you may have come across some special videos featuring the two Mario brothers on the advertisement screens in one of the cars. They’re part of a series of quiz videos called “60 Seconds Challenge! Let’s Save Luigi!!”.

They each consist of a short video showing Luigi in a cage, with Mario trying to save him. Then, a question is displayed on the screen, and travellers are invited to try and find the right answer. To get the key to open Luigi’s cell, Mario has to hit the right block: A, B, C. Those letters correspond to the answers to the question asked in the video.

Here’s the latest and final video, from August 29th (full archives available on this page!):

(NB: since the video is displayed in JR East Trains, it does not feature any audio).

But starting today, “60 Seconds Challenge! Let’s Save Luigi!!” has been replaced by a different series of video quizzes, inspired by Splatoon 3. It’s called Splatoon Turf Quiz, and it features various questions related to marine life.

Here’s the first question:

(NB: since the video is displayed in JR East Trains, it does not feature any audio).

The Splatoon Turf Quiz works pretty much the same as 60 Seconds Challenge! Let’s Save Luigi!!, though this time, we have 3 Inklings competing instead of Mario trying to save Luigi. New videos will be released every Monday, with past questions to be added to this page.

Splatoon Turf Quiz – List of Questios

Unfortunately, just like 60 Seconds Challenge! Let’s Save Luigi!!, Splatoon Turf Quiz only features questions in Japanese. That’s why we’re providing an unofficial English translation of the questions and answers!

  • Question 1 (September 5th 2022): What do squids have 3 of? A) Hearts, B) Eyes, or C) Mouths?

Splatoon 3 (Switch) comes out on September 9th worldwide.
