Shovel Knight: new price and new release dates, amiibo dated in France

Yesterday, Yacht Club Games posted an updated on their official blog, in order to give some news about the physical release of Shovel Knight.
Shovel KnightUnfortunately, there’s some bad news: because the Plague of Shadows DLC took longer than expected to finalise, the retail release of the game has been delayed. Yacht Club Games wanted the DLC to be included with the retail version of Shovel Knight, but since it was not ready in time, the whole thing was delayed (and it wouldn’t have made sense to relase the game without it).

The new release dates are:

  • Europe: October 30th
  • North America: November 3rd

The price was also changed, and is now $24.99/€24.99 instead of $19.99/€19.99 (as announced initially). Apparently, this is due to a problem with retailers, who have limited shelf space for games. To avoid Shovel Knight ending in the Bargain Bin, Yacht Club Games decided to raise the price. If you already pre-ordered the game, you don’t have anything to worry about: your retailer should honour the original price ($19.99/#19.99).

There’s also some good news: the retail version now includes a free download of the Shovel Knight soundtrack (on top of the cartridge and the full colour booklet). It’s already available on Bandcamp, where you can buy it for whatever price you want.

Finally, some news about the Shovel Knight amiibo: Yacht Club Games should announce a release date pretty soon. In France, we already know that it will come out on November 26th (one day before the UK), courtesy of Focus Home Interactive (who will also publish the game at retail). Its price is €14.99, just like all the regular amiibo.
