Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3: first English screens and trailer, will be digital-only

Today, Koei-Tecmo revealed some new information about Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3, which was announced for the West last week. First of all, it’s been confirmed that the game would be digital-only, and wouldn’t get a retail release. Since the game is coming out on June 26th (Europe) / June 30th (North America), roughly one month after the localisation announcement, there is no real surprise here.

Samurai Warriors Chronicles includes various elements from Samurai Warriors 4, like the detailed customisation mode and the battle system. Players looking for a challenge will definitely enjoy the Challenge Mode, where you have to fight against thousands of enemies in a limited amount of time.

Of course, the game includes a Story Mode, in which you can control either your own (customised) hero, or one of the famous historical characters from the Sengoku Era. During battles, you can control up to 4 characters, and you can switch from one to the other and give them commands using the touch screen (which is really useful to complete certain objectives).

This time around, you can get different endings based on your choices, actions, and affiliations during the various battles. You can actually change History, and enjoy some “improbable” scenarios. Finally, Koei-Tecmo confirms the game will support StreetPass and SpotPass: apparently, you can get points that way, in order to fortify your weapons.

Here’s the Enlighs trailer for Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3, which highlights some of the main features of the game:
