Rumour: Splatoon to get its own amiibo figures?

Nintendo launched amiibo in november, and since then, there has been an increasing number of games compatible (either at launch like Mario Party 10, or via an update like Hyrule Warriors). Will Splatoon join the the ranks of amiibo-compatible titles? It certainly looks like it, if Raru (a respectable retailer from South Africa) is to be believed.

The website lists several new amiibo, to be launched in May (May 29 is definitely a placeholder, as it’s the last Friday of the month):

– Greninja
– Jigglypuff
– Splatoon Boy
– Splatoon Girl
– Splatoon plus amiibo Squid (a bundle).

While the very first two are pretty likely, the three others are quite surprising. Still, given the focus on character customisation in the game, a Splatoon amiibo does make sense. One possible use for amiibo in this game would be to save character customisation data (clothes and weapons), so that you can use your very own Inklings when you go play at a friend’s.

Of course, until Nintendo makes an announcement, the listing above remains nothing but a rumour!
