Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Let’s Go, Eevee! – New Pokémon revealed: Meltan

Last week-end, Pokémon GO players all around the world got quite a surprise at the end of the latest Community Day: a mysterious Pokémon suddenly started appearing. And today, this Pokémon was officially revealed: it’s called Meltan, and it will indeed appear in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Let’s Go, Eevee!

Here’s a video featuring Professor Oak and Professor Willow, introducing the new mythical Pokémon:

Here’s some details about Melta from the official website:

  • Name: Meltan
  • Category: Hex Nut Pokémon
  • Type: Steel
  • Height: 0’08”
  • Weight: 17.6 lbs.

Most of Meltan’s body is made from liquid metal, and its shape is very fluid. It can use its liquid arms and legs to corrode metal and absorb it into its own body. Meltan generates electricity using the metal it absorbs from outside sources. It uses this electricity as an energy source and also as an attack that can be fired from its eye. Clearly a curious Pokémon, Meltan is very expressive and shows an interest in all kinds of things.

In Pokémon GO, if you tried to catch it, you would realise that it was just a Ditto disguising as Meltan, not Meltan itself. It’s still appearing here and there in-game, but its spawn rate has decreased dramatically since last week-end.

Meltan will indeed appear in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Let’s Go, Eevee!, but it’s not clear how yoi will be able to get it. That being said, the official website specifies that Pokémon GO is “key” to meeting this Pokémon, implying that you will most likely have to transfer it from that game.

While we wait for further details about this game, here’s some pictures for Meltan:

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Let’s Go, Eevee! (Switch) comes out on November 16th worldwide.
