Today’s Pokémon GO news: Shiny Meltan coming back for a limited time, Shiny Laparas @ Safari Zone in Sentosa, unannounced Latios Raid Battles, another special event announced, Pokémon GO Week in Korea, and more!
Shiny Meltan
As part of Golden Week celebrations in Japan, Shiny Meltan is coming back for all players worldwide, from April 24th to May 5th. As part of this “event”, Mystery Boxes will only require 3 days to be opened again.
Here’s when Shiny Meltan will be available:
- Europe: April 24th (10PM) to May 5th (10PM)
- UK: April 24th (9PM) to May 5th (9PM)
- North America (ET): April 24th (4PM) to May 5th (4PM)
- North America (PT): April 24th (1AM) to May 5th (1PM)
- Japan: April 25th (5AM) to May 6th (5AM)

Shiny Lapras
As part of the Safari Zone event in Sentosa, Shiny Lapras is now appearing in-game for players at the event (alongside Shiny Shuckle, previously announced). Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like players around the world will get this particular Shiny Pokémon for now…

Latios Raids
Earlier today, an unannounced event went live at 6PM in Australia and New Zealand. While it was live, all Gyms had Level 5 Battles with Latios. Right now, we don’t know if there will be a similar event in other regions, at 6PM local time.

Special Event
Another special event was announced, this time coinciding with the Fan Con at the Cape Town Comic Con (in South Africa), on April 27th and April 28th. While it’s running, the following bonuses will be live near the venue:
- increased Pokémon spawns (Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup)
- Double Stardust
- 4 Hours Lure Modules

Pokémon GO Week in Korea
Today, another event was announced: the Pokémon GO Week in Korea, taking place during the Pokémon Festa in Korea (from May 3rd to May 12th). Unfortunately, that’s all we know for now!
