Today’s Nintendo news: Ring Fit Adventure hits 1 million units sold in Japan, but also…

Ring Fit Adventure

Famitsu have shared an early sales report today, about Ring Fit Adventure. The reason? The game has now sold over 1 million units in Japan alone! That number does not include digital sales (they are not any), or sales from the My Nintendo Store (which are quite substantial). As of Week 24, it has sold over 1 006 069 units, with 20 023 additional units sold during Week 24 itself.

It’s the first time that a new IP sells over 1 million units since Splatoon, back in 2015. And the most impressive part about Ring Fit Adventure sales is that the game has been virtually sold out since launch, back in October 2019. And yet, 8 months later, demand is still through the roof, and offer way too low to fully meet it.

Famitsu also shared some sales data for the Nintendo Switch: as of Week 24, the console has sold 13 878 086 units (including the Nintendo Switch Lite), with 55 187 units sold during that week. As expected, sales went down, but the latest shipments were still relatively sizeable.
