Nintendo Labo: overview trailer, Toy-Con 01 and 02 videos, footage, additional details

A few weeks ago, Nintendo introduced what may be the company’s most unique project: Nintendo Labo, a series of DIY kit that allows users to play using cardboard and the Nintendo Switch (make sure to check out this post if you haven’t already!).

And today, the official website for Nintendo Labo was updated in Japan. It now features plenty of short video clips showcasing the various aspects of the whole project, including the first two “packs”: the Toy-Con 01 (Variety Kit) and the Toy-Con 02 (Robot Kit).

We grabbed all the video clips (almost 30 in total!), and merged them into a single video for your viewing convenience:

But that’s not all: Nintendo uploaded several trailers for the game. The first one is an overview video for Nintendo Labo itself:

The second trailer introduces the Toy-Con 01: Variety Kit:

And the third trailer introduces the Toy-Con 02: Robot Kit:

With those trailers, Nintendo introduces a new aspect of Nintendo Labo called ‘Toy-Con Garage’. Basically, it’s a special mode where “simple principles of technology” can be used in a fun and accessible way, allowing players to combine various simple inputs and outputs to create their own ways to play with the Toy-Con kits. It’s the most “DIY” bit of Nintendo Labo, where players will be able to unleash their creativity roam free!

Finally, Nintendo reveals that Nintendo Labo will not be available via the Nintendo eShop: you will have to get the whole package in stores. This comes as no surprise, as Nintendo is seemingly not planning to release the actual cardboard elements separately, or the even simply the models.

That being said, in Japan, Nintendo is selling download codes for the Software part of Nintendo Labo via the My Nintendo Store, but only as part of special SKU including the cardboard elements. In other words, the same thing as the SKU available in stores, but with a download code instead of a game cartridge. It will be the only way to get the Nintendo Labo Software digitally.

Finally, here’s various screencaps from the official website:

Nintendo Labo (Switch) comes out on April 20th in Japan and North America, and April 27th in Europe.
