Monster Hunter X: more details from Famitsu (+ MH Poka-Poka Airou Village DX video)

Monster Hunter X

Monster Hunter X

This week, Famitsu published the rest of the interview with the developers of Monster Hunter X on their website. Thanks to it, we learn that this game will not have underwater areas, unlike Monster Hunter Tri and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. The frenzied monsters from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will also be missing, just like the Guild Quests.

In the interview, Ryozo Tsujimoto (Series Producer) explains that the lack of those features is there to emphasize the elements that make Monster Hunter X so unique. One of them is Verna Village, which is quite open and spacious, with a different lifestyle compared to the other villages in the series (which had a warm and dense feel to them).

The different colours, but also the way it was designed for the players, gives the village a very different ambience. The developers explain that they have put the emphasis on interaction with non-villager beings (such as the Moofers, some peaceful creatures).

For Tsujimoto, creating a different worldview for each Monster Hunter game is simply crucial, and that’s why the worldview of Verna Village is unlike any other in previous Monster Hunter titles. What’s more, he reminds us that Monster Hunter X is the only game where the Guild Hall is used for accessing multiplayer.

Later in the interview, we get a reminder that Monster Hunter X will have several villages, and just like in Monster Hunter 4 (Ultimate), players will get to travel from one to the other during the adventure (via a hot air balloon, this time around). Apparently, this is all part of an “ecosystem investigations”, but the developers didn’t say much more about that.

From now on, Capcom will reveal new details about the game on a regular basis. Little by little, players will get to understand just how the game actually plays. Ryozo Tsujimoto expects that when they can finally play it, players will be surprised by a game which will not be quite as they were expecting. They hope to betray players’ expectations, but in a good way.

Finally, the developers remind us that the customisation options are there to provide players with a more personalised hunting experience.
