Metroid Prime: Federation Force / Blast Ball – First Software update available (Ver. 1.1.0)

While it only came out a couple of weeks ago in Europe, Metroid Prime: Federation Force was released back in August in North America and Japan. But it’s only today that the game is getting its very first update (along with Metroid Prime: Blast Ball), though it’s actually a minor one (Nintendo didn’t even announce it beforehand).

Unfortunately, it’s not clear what this update does right now, other than providing the usual batch of bug fixes and adjustements to “improve the overall game experience”. It most likely fixes the connection issues players have been experiencing in Metroid Prime: Blast Ball.

Here’s the patchnotes for the Metroid Prime: Federation Force update (which are most definitely the same for Metroid Prime: Blast Ball, even if Nintendo doesn’t provide separate patchnotes):

  • Fixed an issue that caused errors to occur when beginning Online Play in Blast Ball.
  • Added a count-down timer to the team selection screen in the Online Play mode of Blast Ball.
  • During matches in the Online Play mode of Blast Ball, players will be disconnected if they fail to make any inputs for a set amount of time.
  • Other adjustments have been made to make for a more pleasant gaming experience.

This update for Metroid Prime: Federation Force / Metroid Prime: Blast Ball requires 446 blocks / 55.75 MB and 420 blocks / 52.5MB of free space on your SD Card respectively. To download them, you have three options:

  • select Metroid Prime: Federation Force / Metroid Prime: Blast Ball from the Home Menu, while being connected to the internet. You should get a prompt when doing so: just follow the instructions on screen;
  • you can search for Metroid Prime: Federation Force / Metroid Prime: Balst Ball on the Nintendo eShop;
  • you can use the option in the Nintendo eShop settings.

To check that you have the latest version, simply launch each game game: you should see Ver. 1.1.0 on the screen:
