Japan: more sales data for Week 43, October 2016 (Media Create, Dengeki)

Today, Media Create released its weekly report for video game sales in Japan, providing us with more sales data for Week 43. During that week, a total of 593 000 units were sold for Software, which amounts to 146.96% of Week 42 sales. Almost half of those sales are from new games: 361 000 units (177.95% of Week 42 sales), with 80% of total sales for PlayStation platforms.

Here’s the sales data for individual versions of Yo-kai Watch 3, and Puzzle & Dragons X:

• Yo-kai Watch 3: Sushi – 6 622 units this week, 642 864 units since launch;
• Yo-kai Watch 3: Tempura – 6 461 units this week, 609 371 units since launch;
• Puzzle & Dragons X: Ryuu no Shou – 1 828 units this week, 101 504 units since launch;
• Puzzle & Dragons X: Ryuu no Shou – 1 650 units this week, 101 748 units since launch.

For Week 43, Dengeki reports that Hardware sales increased by 14.9% (73 000 units), while Software sales increased by 51.1% (623 000 units). October as a whole saw an increase in sales, though Hardware is down Year on Year:

• Hardware: 278 000 units (-5.9% Year on Year), 6.7 billion Yen (-13.5%)
• Software: 1.78 millions units (+10.6% Year on Year), 11 billion Yen (-19.9%)
• Total: 17.7 billion Yen (+4.5%)

Dengeki reports that this is the first time in 5 months that total sales are up, and it looks like November will stay on that couse with Pokémon Sun and Moon and Final Fantasy XV.

Monster Hunter Stories was the best-selling title of October, with 248 000 units sold.

Software sales were still desperately slow, with only two games selling more than 100 000 units. The best-seller was Monster Hunter Stories, and the second best-selling game on Nintendo 3DS was Mario Party: Star Rush, with only 40 650 units sold…
