With over 200,000 units sold on Nintendo Switch alone (nearly 4 times more than the PlayStation 4 version), POWER PROS 2024-2025 is by far the best-selling game of July 2024 in Japan. It’s off to a great start, though poor word of mouth might end up spoiling what looked at first glance like a perfect homerun.
Still, updates to fix the various issues are on the way, and the game should still enjoy solid sales throughout the rest of the year. It’s already off to a better start than its predecessor, at the very least, with both versions combined selling around 260.000 units (vs. 202.000 units for eBaseball POWER PROS 2022 during the same period).
Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD enjoyed a solid second month (in great part due to its releasing at the very end of June) with over 70,000 units. Still, there’s little doubt it will end up among the best-selling games of this Summer.
As for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, its sales actually increased in July with about 37,000 units sold. Truly the King of evergreen titles on Nintendo Switch!
Finally, Nintendo World Championships NES Edition is off to a decent start with over 36,000 units. The low price tag for the standard edition is bound to sustain sales throughout the rest of the years.
As pointed out by Famitsu, two Nintendo Switch games reached major milestone in July:
- Luigi’s Mansion 3 has now sold over 1 million units at retail alone
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has now sold over 2 million units at retail alone

Publishers
Once again, Nintendo was the most successful publisher with around 425.000 units sold (a noticeable drop from June 2024, when the company sold over 480.000 units). The only release of the month (Nintendo World Championships NES Edition) only contributed a small portion of those sales, and most of them come from the usual evergreen titles.
Konami is, unsurprisingly, the 2nd most successful publisher this month thanks to the successful launch of POWER PROS 2024-2025. This game alone accounts for most of the 290.000 units the publisher sold in July.
Finally, Bandai-Namco ranked #3 with 62.000 units sold. The late ports of One Piece Odyssey and Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown account for roughly half of those sales.
- Nintendo: 425.000
- Konami: 290.000
- Bandai-Namco: 62.000
Hardware
Hardware-wise, Nintendo Switch sales were fairly stable in July with around 229,000 units sold. That’s roughly 4,000 units more than in June: a pretty solid performance, especially given the difference in the number of weeks tracked (June had 5 instead of 4 for July). It looks like many people wanted a Nintendo Switch to pass the hot Summer months!
- Nintendo Switch: 229.316 (June 2024: 225.316)
- PlayStation 5: 123.087 (June 2024: 117.592)
