Hyrule Warriors LegendsToday, Koei-Tecmo updated the official website of Hyrule Warriors Legends, providing additional details about the characters revealed in Famitsu magazine this week. First, a new stage is revealed: it’s apparently based on both the Wind and Earth Temples from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

Next, we have Skull Kid, who is described as very violent because of the power of the Majora’s Mask. As seen in The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, deep down, he just wants to play with his friends. He fights primarily with an ocarina, with fairies by his side (Tatl and Tael, from Majora’s Mask). However, the screenshots below also show him use the same trumpet as in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, that he uses to summon woodden puppets to attack enemies.

Then, there’s the new boss character: Phantom Ganon. Since the new story content is based on The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, it’s not too surprising that he would based on the Phantom Ganon from that game. He behaves pretty much the same way: he floats around, and throws of ball of energy at you (that you have to send back at him).

Finally, Koei-Tecmo reveals a new gameplay mechanics called “Smash Boost Power”, which is for boss battles. When you’re fighting a boss with at least another character (up to 4, including yourself), you can get various bonuses (for example: your magic gauge is refilled), and more. The screenshots below show that when you do, the boss gets a green outline.

Finally, here’s pictures of the compass watch (a pendant) and the golden ocarina from the Premium and Treasure Box editions:

Hyrule Warriors Legends (3DS) comes out on January 21st in Japan, and in Early 2016 in Europe and North America.
