Hogwarts Legacy: pre-order trailer, Nintendo Switch owner’s discount, save data transfer

With less than a month until release, Warner Bros. has finally launched pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Hogwarts Legacy in Europe and North America. To celebrate, a brand new trailer was shared, comparing footage of the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions of the game.

Here’s the trailer:

As mentioned in this post, Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch 2 features improved visuals (including support for DLSS), faster load time, mouse controls, and other improvements.

And if you already own the game on Nintendo Switch, you can get a pretty hefty discount on the Nintendo Switch 2 version on the Nintendo eShop. The best part: everyone who already own the game can take advantage of this owner’s discount, even if they bought the game at retail!

Here’s how you can take advantage of it:

  • If you own the Digital version of Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch: simply head to the Nintendo eShop page (on the web or via the Nintendo Switch 2 console once you have it), and the discount should be applied automatically. Make sure to be logged in to the same Nintendo Account you bought the Nintendo Switch version with!
  • If you own the Physical version of Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch:
    • Launch your Nintendo Switch copy of Hogwarts Legacy.
    • Access the main menu of Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch. You will need to have completed the intro sequence to the game to access the main menu.
    • Select [Additional Content].
    • Download the additional content titled “Activate Hogwarts Legacy Owner’s Discount on Nintendo Switch 2” to activate your discount
    • The discount will now appear on the Hogwarts Legacy Nintendo Switch 2 eShop page. To access the discount, you must be logged into the same Nintendo account where you redeemed this download.
    • You can now purchase Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch 2 with the discount.

Also, Warner Bros. announced that you will be able to transfer your save data from the Nintendo Switch version of the game, meaning you won’t have to restart from scratch when you get it on Nintendo Switch 2. The exact procedure isn’t known yet (more details will be shared closer to launch), though it will involve transferring save data from the Nintendo Switch console to the Nintendo Switch 2 console (either via System Transfer or via Save Data Cloud).

Hogwarts Legacy (Switch 2) comes out on June 5th worldwide.
