Harvest Moon: Skytree Village announced for the 3DS, more details at E3

Harvest Moon is the name of the original series, which debuted on the SNES back in 1996. The latest games are developed by Marvelous in Japan (where it’s called Bokujo Monogatari), and the series is known as Story in Seasons in the West since the second entry on Nintendo 3DS. Bokujou Monogatari 3tsu no Sato no Taisetsuna Tomodachi (lit: Story of Seasons: Precious Friends from the Three Villages) is the latest entry in the original series.

But back in 2014, Marvelous decided to get back the publishing rights for the series in the West. Until now, the games were published by Natsume in North America (and other publishers in Europe). But the thing is… Natsume still owns the right to the Harvest Moon trademark, which is why Marvelous had to pick up a different name for the series in the West.

What’s more, Natsume has chosen to launch their own Harvest Moon series, which is completely separate from the original one. And it’s from that series that the new Harvest Moon game announced today is from. Called Harvest Moon: Skytree Village, it will be released on Nintendo 3DS.

Unfortunately, that’s pretty much all we know about the game right now, but we don’t have long to wait before finding out what it’s all about: it will be revealed and playable at E3, later this month!
