A few days ago, Nintendo announced that Fire Emblem Heroes would soon get a new feature called “Inherit Skill”. That feature is now available. As the name implies, it allows a character to “inherit” a skill from another character, so that you can have them learn a skill they would not be able to learn under normal circumstances.

But what’s Inherit Skill, exactly? It’s a feature that allows you to transfer up to 3 skills from one hero at a time. After the transfer, the Hero who received the skill will have to learn it before they can use it. Unfortunately, there’s a catch: in order to learn an inherited skill, you will need x1.5 the usual amount of SP than for regular skills.

The only exception is skills inherited by a Hero prior to using Unlock Potential, even though that skill can be learned by that Hero that way.

But that’s not the only restriction: special skills such as Falchion (that only Marth, Lucina, and Chrom can have) cannot be transferred to another Hero. Also, there are restrictions regarding the types of skills you can transfer, depending on the weapon type and the movements (how many space they can move, and the distance they can attack from) of the target Hero for example. We can imagine that a Mage will not be able to learn skills that relies on a sword, for example.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you lose the Hero you transfer skills from (similar to how you lose the source Hero when merging duplicates), which is why you cannot use favorited Heroes as source for Inherit Skill (but they can be on the receiving end!).

To use Inherit Skill, go to Allies > Advanced Growth > Inherit Skill.
