Attack on Titan 2: latest trailer introduces the multiplayer mode, 8 player local co-op on Switch

Today, Koei-Tecmo revealed a brand new trailer for their Attack on Titan 2 game, which comes out next month worldwide. This time around, the focus is on multiplayer, with the various game modes briefly detailed.

But before that, let’s start with the most important tidbit for Nintendo Switch owners: this version of the game will offer 8 player local multiplayer. Of course, every player needs their own console and game, but it’s still a pretty neat feature to have… especially since it’s not a trade off for online, which will be present on Nintendo Switch (without cross-platform play).

Next, here’s the rundown of the various multiplayer modes:

  • Online Mode: Eliminate Titans with Scouts worldwide! Multiple modes are available for Co-Op, and Competitive Play.
  • Story Mode Co-Op: Play the Story Mode with Co-op of 2. Players can help each other by reviving defeated partner.
  • Scouts Mission Co-op: Scout missions can be played with maximum of 4 players. Various missions are available.
  • Annihilation Mode: Team battle of maximum of 4 on 4. Earn the highest score by defeating the devastating Titans. Tackling these Titans as a unit will earn the Team a Chain Bonus, where higher score will be offered. Halt the enemy in their tracks, with items such as Numbing Bullets and Pain Bullets. As a match draws to a climatic close, the stakes rise as in the last minute any points earned are doubled.

Finally, Koei-Tecmo announced that a new mode will be added via a Software updated after launch. It will apparently allow players to wreck chaos and eat tasty little humans everywhere they go, as Titans.

Here’s the latest trailer for Attack on Titan 2, introducing the multiplayer modes:

Attack on Titan 2 (Switch) comes out on March 15th in Japan, and March 20th in Europe and North America.
