Ace Angler: Fishing Spirits – Ver. 1.2.1

  • Release date: March 21st 2024 (Japan) / ??? (North America)
  • Patch notes:
  • adds Donki stage to Fishing Spirits+
    • Donpen and Donko will appear at random in that stage
    • Donpen wearing a shark hat will appear as a species you can fish
  • adds special stage “Hall of Surprise”, that you can unlock early by meeting some specific conditions.
    • A red fish shadow will appear on the Donki stage, and if you catch it, you can try out the stage.
    • To unlock the stage, you need to follow the official Fishing Spirits account on LINE (Japan)
  • adds Donki Fishing Tourney to Fishing Party
    • catch Donpen, Donko, and Dojo-chan, and aim for the 1st place!
  • Other minor display adjustments.

Ace Angler: Fishing Spirits – Ver. 1.2.0

  • Patch notes:
  • Adds new “Amiami Shooting” mode
    • A new attraction has been added to Big Catch Medal Land: Amiami Shooting, where players shoot at fish to catch them
      • Amiami Shooting is a fishing shooting game for 1 or 2 players
      • Try to capture all boss fish within the time limit
  • ‘Shark Festival’ starts in January 2024
    • The “Shark Festival” starts in January 2024 in Fishing Spirits Plus. You can fish special, time-limited sharks that will start appearing every month.
      • In January, you will be able to fish basking sharks, known for their enormous mouths. You can get a special t-shirt!
  • Adds ‘Message Board’.
    • A noticeboard has been added to Big Catch Medal Land. It offers information about recent updates and the monthly Shark Festivals.
  • Other minor display adjustments.

Ace Angler: Fishing Spirits – Ver. 1.1.6

  • Release date: July 20th 2023 (Japan) / ??? (North America)

This update brings the following to the game:

  • adds collaboration with 11 aquariums in Japan. The star fish of each aquarium will appear in the game! By completing each Mission, you can unlock special outfit inspired by the aquarium. And if you clear all Missions, a new Aquarium Stage will be unlocked: it only features fish from collaboration aquariums! [more details]
  • adds Bakucho Fishing Tournament to Fishing Spirits+
  • adds a new stage: Undersea Temple. Try to catch a white armour killer whale!

  • Adds collaboration with the manga adaptation of Ace Angler
    • Ryugu Kai and Pukutaro, characters from the Ace Angler manga, currently serialised in CoroCoro Comics, will apper in Taikyo Medal Land. By talking to them, you can check out some excerpts of the Ace Angler manga.
  • Adds Pink Fish Shadows to Fishing Spirits+
    • Four mascots and Pukutaro will appear at random from Pink Fish Shadows.
      • To make Pukutaro appear, you first need to talk to Ryugu Kai and Pukutaro in Taikyo Medal Land.
  • Adds additional Pukutaro Missions
    • Fishing a specified number of Pukutaro will net you an outfit inspired by Ryugu Kai.
  • Distribution of Coro Dragon t-shirts to commemorate the collaboration with the Ace Angler manga.
  • Changed the contents of Daily Missions
    • The contents of Daily Missions will now change depending on machine development stage.

Ace Angler: Fishing Spirits – Ver. 1.1.3

  • Release date: December 15th 2022 (Japan) / ??? (North America)
  • Patch notes:
  • Fixed an issue occuring in Ver. 1.1.1 where customisation items (rewards items, bonus items available via a Download Code, etc.) that did not appear in the shop would disappear and could not be obtained again.
    • Players who experienced that issue in Ver. 1.1.1 can get the following items by downloading this update:
      • Customisation items obtained via DLC
      • Customisation items obtained by opening an Aquarium, clearing an Aquarium, and by clearing Poison Doc Legend.

  • Distribution of Ace Angler series t-shirts featuring the series’ logo
  • Fixed crash occuring during initial loading in “Poison Doc Legend” under certain conditions
  • Fixed an issue occuring when Player 1’s username contains an underscore, causing that players to get stuck on the conversation scene occuring after fishing in the Poison Doc Legend tutorial
  • Fixed an issue occuring in Online God Angler Championship where the countdown display showing time remaining until CPU entry sometimes showed 0 seconds to go right from the beginning.

How to download updates for Ace Angler: Fishing Spirits for the Nintendo Switch?

To download the updates for Ace Angler: Fishing Spirits, you have three options:

  • let the console do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated, and didn’t completely turn it off

If not…

  • try to launch the game from the Home Menu while being connected to the internet. You should get a prompt when doing so: simply follow the instructions on screen;


  • select the game > press either + or – to go to the Options page > select Software update > select Via the Internet.

To check that you have the latest version installed, simply select the game on the Home Menu, and press – or + to go to the Options: the version number is displayed just below the game title.
