Japan: Top 20 Software for the Nintendo 3DS (LTD), Top 5 publishers (February 2016)
Nintendo 3DS
In its latest issue, Famitsu magazine has a special features about the 5th Anniversary of the Nintendo 3DS Said feature includes a list of the 20 best-selling games on the platform, and unsurprisingly, most of them are from Nintendo. Capcom and Level-5 also did pretty well, thanks to Monster Hunter and Yo-kai Watch respectively.
The best-selling title is Pokémon X and Y, with 4 481 023 units sold at retail. Animal Crossing: New Leaf isn’t far behind, with 4 469 146 units sold at retail: if we add digital sales, it’s actually the best-selling game on Nintendo 3DS in Japan (and pretty much the only IP, besides Pokémon, not to have experienced a major drop in sales from the DS to the 3DS era).

Top 5 Publishers
Thanks to horuhe, who compiled the data from the weekly charts, we have the Top 5 of publishers for February 2016 in Japan. This time around, Nintendo is only #4 with a 12.15% marketshare, which is due to them not releasing anything other than Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympics on Nintendo 3DS. That being said, the company is still in the Top 5 thanks to the good sales of evergreen titles such as Splatoon or Super Mario Maker, on Wii U.
