Top 5 Software

For the third month in a row, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream was the best-selling game in Japan with over 151,000 units sold in June. This brings total sales at retail to over 1.4 million units, which makes it the best-selling game in the first half of 2026. There’s little doubt the game is going to keep on selling steadily through the rest of 2026, ending up among the best-selling games of the full year too!

POWER PROS 2026-2027 came very close to unseating Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream in June, but with 146,000 units sold during its first month, it came roughly 5,000 units shy of doing so.

Meanwhile, Star Fox is off to a decent start with over 41,000 units sold at retail alone.

In just a week, Star Fox managed to outsell eFootball Kick-Off! (Konami’s football series, previously known as Pro Evolution Soccer), which also sold over 41,000 units at retail during its first month.

Publishers

Once again, Nintendo was the most successful publisher in Japan with around 372,000 units sold in June. A good chunk of those sales come from Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream of course, with Star Fox also making a notable contribution to that total, and the usual evergreen titles making up the rest.

Thanks to its latest releases, Konami is #2 in June with over 200,000 units sold. In fact, POWER PROS 2026-2027 and eFootball Kick-Off! make up the vast majority of those sales.

  1. Nintendo: 372.000
  2. Konami: 206.000
  3. Square-Enix: 109.000
Hardware

As expected, Nintendo Switch 2 sales saw a massive drop in June: the console sold “only” 100,000 units, which is a far cry from the massive 700,000 units sold in May just before the price hike went into effect.

Still, the console remains the best-selling console in Japan by a large margin, and total sales are now nearing the 6 million units milestone (a milestone it’s guaranteed to reach during the second week of July at the latest).

  1. Nintendo Switch 2 – 100.166 (previous month: 711.991)
  2. PlayStation 5 – 36.175 (previous month: 50.049)
