New Game+ Has Arrived

Brace yourself for the ultimate trial. With New Game+, you can now restart your journey using your battle-hardened Inquisitor and progress through as many NG+ cycles as you dare. Difficulty will continue to scale for the first 10, each one more punishing than the last.

  • Enemies grow tougher with every cycle, scaling their strength to match your power.
  • NG+ versions of weapons, off-hands, and rings can now be found to upgrade your arsenal.
  • Random empowered auras and effects will appear on enemies, offering both greater danger and greater rewards.

Prefer to take it easy? You can also replay the base game at NG+0 with your fully equipped Inquisitor.

New Content & Features

  • New Weapons Added: Aurora (Mid-game Daggers), Crimson Slicer (Late-game Daggers), and Reignbreaker (Late-game Two-Handed Mace).

Quality of Life Updates

  • Added a feature that allows players to remove Skill Upgrades and refund their cost at the Witch Altar.
  • Individual Talents and Nodes can now be unlearned and refunded at the Witch Altar.
  • Added an option to instantly learn Talents and Nodes with a single button press.
  • Vendor items now display a small icon to indicate if they are not yet unlocked in your Collection.
  • Increased Witch Stone selection radius when the Map view is zoomed out.
  • Added Quick Buy/Sell to the General tab of the Options window.

Gameplay Improvements

Movement & Combat

  • Glide can now be activated during a later phase of the jump/fall.
  • Glide’s auto-cancel height has been lowered to reduce events where Glide gets cancelled by unintended early landing.
  • Increased the time window for grabbing ledges and ladders during falls.
  • You can now turn around during Heavy Attack wind-up.
  • From now on, your Character will only let go of ledges and walls when taking heavy damage.
  • Sprint and Roll no longer consume Stamina in Tombstone Hollows.
  • Controller vibration fine-tuned across various attacks.

Quest Adjustments

  • Dark Ale has been updated with better balance, rewards, and gameplay improvements.
  • Increased rewards for the following secondary quests:
    • A Life Left Behind
    • Clayborne’s Request
    • Echoes of a Distant Land
    • Old Regrets
    • The Talking Skull
    • The Timeless Traveler
    • Thief

Inquisitor Attacks & Weapons

  • Nightshade’s Shadowstep reach increased to match its particle effect.
  • Vanguard’s Eternal Rage Talent now activates at a consistent flat Adrenaline value (100).
  • Added Spirit scaling to the stagger effect of the Vindicator’s Astral Guardians skill.
  • The damage increase from the Vanguard’s Revenge Talent now also applies to Shield Charge.
  • Light Attacks with Daggers now generate Adrenaline.

Bosses & Enemies

  • Adjusted Sleepwalker Phase 2 difficulty and removed unavoidable damage events.
  • Updated Sleepwalker ability hitboxes and preparation times to improve the fight.
  • Tweaked a mechanic in Phase 2 of the Final Boss fight that required players to stand still to trigger the homing orbs’ explosion.
  • Adjusted the Phase 2 beam contact damage area in the Final Boss fight to better match the visuals.
  • Updated Lord Auberon’s Phase 2 light area visuals to better understand how to avoid taking damage.
  • Increased the distance between fissures created by the Entropic Forest Giant.
  • Slight balance adjustment to enemy placement in Lochmuir Village.

World Changes

  • A number of Small Spike Pits are now non-lethal and shallower — you can jump out!
  • Slight adjustments and bug fixes to geometry across various levels.

Visuals & Effects

  • When using Jump Pads in Entropy, your Inquisitor will now transform into their energy form for the duration of the jump.
  • Adjusted the facing direction when looking at NPCs.
  • Air Attack animations improved.
  • Numerous tweaks to character and cutscene animations.
  • Polished visual effects in:
    • The Tome Mistress fight.
    • The Inquisitors fight
    • Attack impacts and blood splash effects.
  • Weapon trail effects and enemy animations.
  • Added particle effects to movable boxes.
  • Small to medium updates to a number of enemy animations.
  • Added missing visual effect to Step Into the Sunlight quest.
  • Visual improvements to weapon trail effects.
  • Updated the visual effect for the Entropy Portal.

User Interface (UI) Improvements

  • Inactive Skill Set’s resource bars now appear on the HUD.
  • Tweaked node navigation in the Witch Lantern upgrades window at the Witch Altar.
  • Tweaked node navigation in the Skill Upgrade screen.
  • Ranks (1-3 stars) have been added to enemy unlocks in the Bestiary list.
  • Statistics page now shows collected Diagrams by vendor type.
  • Various item icons received a visual polish pass.
  • Adjusted margins in Character Creator for localization.
  • Changed a misleading Perished message when failing in the Dreamfields. In this case, the Inquisitor falls into eternal slumber.

Bug Fixes

  • Various crash fixes.
  • Fixed Weapon Oil effects incorrectly scaling with main attributes. These effects were always intended to provide a flat bonus.
  • Fixed an issue where Lunge Attack could trigger certain Talents multiple times per use.
  • Fixed an issue where the Eruptive Brambles Talent could trigger from fall damage.
  • Fixed an issue where Molten Strikes generated double combo points when used with daggers.
  • Fixed an issue where Huy’s Quill’s Spellbook Companion would despawn if used again while already active.
  • Fixed an issue where Toxic Shiv projectiles could bounce between solid surfaces.
  • Fixed an issue where upgraded Astral Guardians and Fiery Rush could not be used with Freecast.
  • Fixed an issue where the Wyld Vines upgrade mark could incorrectly appear on breakable objects.
  • Fixed an issue where the Sic ‘Em! Wyldwarden Talent could not properly target Ambush Arachnids.
  • Fixed an issue where hitting multiple targets at once could generate multiple Combo Points.
  • Fixed an issue where certain damaging effects created by the player character’s skills could deal self-damage after loading a saved game.
  • Fixed an issue where Upgrade III of Shadow Shards did not push enemies back.
  • Fixed a bug affecting Thorn Dance damage calculation.
  • Fixed an issue where Chaos Tentacles could incorrectly appear on top of enemies’ heads.
  • Fixed an issue where Nightshade’s Shadowstep could not damage Queen of Smiles while she was attacking.
  • Fixed unintended Player Character death during the Marionettes fight cutscenes.
  • Fixed Player Camera hiccups and glitches on various levels.
  • Fixed a problem with breakable floor interact ranges.
  • Fixed a bug that caused a recent interact event to get stuck behind the scenes, thus preventing the Player from breaking certain floors.
  • Fixed an issue where certain zones did not trigger the “New Area Discovered!” notification.
  • Fixed several Map Layout inconsistencies.
  • Fixed an issue where Boss levels were not visible when using the Large UI Scale setting.
  • Fixed Map’s bottom hotkey bar out-of-bounds bug in certain languages with the Large UI Scale setting.
  • Fixed Bestiary update notification being outside of the screen edges with the Large UI Scale setting.
  • Fixed an issue where an incorrect number was shown in the statistics for the Witch Stones.
  • Fixed an issue where controller vibration could get stuck if the player character died while holding Heavy Attack.
  • Fixed an issue where the player character could get stuck in the jump-off ladder animation when dying.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Channeling skills to remain locked in casting state when pressing a combination of buttons at the same time.
  • Fixed an issue where area discovery showed 100% on the Map while the Player was on another level, even though the connecting Entropy Rift had not been cleared.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Necromancer’s door seal effect to replay when loading a saved game or visiting it again after traveling from another level.
  • Fixed Warg’s portal incorrectly reopening after loading a saved game.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented one of the Entropic Chests and the chest of the Old Regrets quest from rewarding loot after loading a saved game. The missing loot can now be found at the corresponding chests.
  • Fixed a graphics material bug that could cause certain enemy models to appear covered in a white shader.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Blood Eye model to sometimes not behave properly when killed.

How to download updates for Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree on Nintendo Switch?

To download the updates for Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree, you have three options:

  • let the console do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated, and didn’t completely turn it off

If not…

  • try to launch the game from the Home Menu while being connected to the internet. You should get a prompt when doing so: simply follow the instructions on screen;

OR

  • select the game > press either + or – to go to the Options page > select Software update > select Via the Internet.

To check that you have the latest version installed, simply select the game on the Home Menu, and press – or + to go to the Options: the version number is displayed just below the game title.
