Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island & Emerald Rush – Limited-time events (#8: Kong Bananza Returns + Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary Wave 1)

The DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC for Donkey Kong Bananza introduces a brand new game mode called Emerald Rush. In this mode, you get to tackle a series of fast-paced challenges in order to earn various rewards. It also offers limited-events, with exclusive statues to earn!

It’s a special Emerald Rush event where everything has been given a Super Mario Bros. makeover. For example, DK and Pauline gets to wear Mario and Luigi outfits respectively (changes are purely cosmetics; the effects of the outfits you were wearing before the event will still apply).

The appearance of the following items has been changed (complete with sound effects!):

  • Emerald Chip > Coin
  • Apple > Super Mushroom
  • Wooden Box > Brick Block
  • Treasure Chest > ? Block
  • Tuning Fork > Checkpoint Flag

The event also features Super Mario Bros. music with a special arrangement. Also, when you press L to whistle, Pauline can be heard humming a certain tune… “Jump Up, Super Star!” from Super Mario Odyssey! And by the way, you can purchase the new music track at any time, even after the event has ended (though it is quite pricey: make sure to stock up on Banandium Gems!).

You can find the Chip Hoarder perk, which increases the amount of Emerald Ore you can get based from defeating enemies based on the number of chips you have, as well as the Magic Wallet perk, which increases the amount of Emerald Ore you can hold by 1.5
