Children of Silentown: Developer Spotlight video

Developed by Elf Games and Luna2 (and published by Daedalic Entertainment), Children of Silentown is a dark adventure game about a young girl growing up in a village located deep into a forest inahbited by monsters. It will launch on January 11th worldwide.

Today, Daedalic Entertainment have shared a Developer Insight video where the developers talk about how this game, which started as an animated short, came to be.

Originally developed as an animated short, Elf Games and Luna2 collaborated to bring the Children of Silentowninto the interactive medium. The Making Of video tells the tale of how this suggestion snowballed into the game we see today as a full-fledged title, made by this small group of people in their off-hours from their full-time jobs in software development and full-time content creation on YouTube. The passion this team exudes is infectious, poured into the project slowly but steadily over the years. Even Jack, the punk, cannot wait to share it with everyone.

The story follows Lucy, a young girl growing up next to a monster-filled forest where it’s up to her and the player to solve the surrounding mysteries and learn to use her voice. Play minigames, solve puzzles, and collect clues amid atmospheric music and an eerie yet endearing hand-drawn art style. Songs specifically play a paramount role, depending on how many you’re able to learn, you can find yourself at one of multiple endings.

Accompany Lucy and her friends in this grim, beautifully hand-drawn adventure game by the creators of Little Briar Rose, in collaboration with studio Luna2. Lucy is afraid of the forest, just like any other child: every night, the echoing roars rob her of her sleep. Not even her dreams are a safe place where she could play. People disappearing is nothing uncommon in the village, but this time, Lucy is old enough to investigate on her own. Or so she thinks.

Children of Silentown is a point & click adventure game telling a mysterious and endearing story. Explore the town and its dangerous surroundings, meet its quirky inhabitants, solve puzzles and master minigames. Accompany Lucy on her adventure to get to the bottom of what is haunting the strange Silentown… if you dare.
