[Famitsu] Japan: Lifetime Top 20 Software for the Nintendo Switch (as of March 28th, 2021)

A few days ago, Famitsu shared the lifetime Top 20 Software for the Nintendo Switch in Japan, covering the period going from March 3rd, 2017 to March 28th, 2021. Overall, the rankings are not all that different from the Top 35 shared back in March, but there’s some pretty interesting changes and, more importantly, updated sales numbers!

First, we have two evergreen titles outselling other games: that’s the case of Minecraft outselling Super Mario Party (both are evergreen titles, but the former tends to sell better outside the holiday season), and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild finally outselling Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Let’s Go, Eevee!.

Monster Hunter Rise shows up and goes straight to #13 after just one week of sales. As for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, it lands at #19.

There’s now one more million-sellers at retail in Japan (it was 14 back in February), and no doubt there will be a couple more by the end of the year. 11 of those are from Nintendo, with Microsoft (of all companies! Thanks, Minecraft.), Konami, and Capcom all claiming 1 each. In total, there’s only 4 games from third-party publishers in the Top 20.
