One Piece: Dai Kaizoku Colosseum / Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden cross-play update available, trailer

Back in September, Bandai-Namco made a major announcement that really pleased fans of Shonen manga/animes. One Piece: Dai Kaizoku Colosseum and Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden are both getting a Software update, adding cross-play multiplayer.

That update was initially announced for November, and it’s now available for download. Thanks to it, players in One Piece: Dai Kaizoku Colosseum can battle against players playing in Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden, and vice-versa. They don’t have to pay for anything: all they have to do is make sure both games are fully up to date.

Unfortunately, there are some restrictions, but they’re not nearly as important as we were expecting. Cross-play multiplayer is only available for Local VS and Multiplayer VS, and it doesn’t give you access to the characters from the other game. In other words: you can only play with Dragon Ball characters in Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden, and with One Piece characters in One Piece: Dai Kaizoku Colosseum.

Here’s a trailer for the cross-play update:

Finally, here’s some screenshots:

Unfortunately, since Bandai-Namco hasn’t announced anything regarding the release of One Piece: Dai Kaizoku Colosseum in Europe and North America, there is no way to know if and when the update will be released outside Japan.
