Azure Striker Gunvolt: over 170 000 downloads on Nintendo 3DS

A couple of weeks ago, Inti Creates confirmed that the Striker Pack would indeed come out in North America. This pack includes both Azure Striker Gunvolt and Azure Striker Gunvolt 2, and will be released at retail. And the good news for Inti Creates is that the announcement of that bundle for Japan and North America doesn’t seem to have had a noticeable impact on sales (yet?).

Today, Inti Creates announced that Azure Striker Gunvolt had been downloaded over 170 000 times from the Nintendo eShop of the Nintendo 3DS. Here’s the illustration they shared to celebrate and thank their fans:

The last time we got an update, it was on May 27th, when it was announced that sales had topped 160 000 units. In other words, 10 000 additional units have been sold between May 27th and July 15th, in less than two months. That means that the download rate has increased in the past couple of weeks: it looks like interest for Azure Striker Gunvolt 2, the sequel, has had a positive impact on sales for the original.

It would be pretty interesting if Inti Creates kept giving sales data for Azure Striker Gunvolt after the Striker Pack is released, including those for that bundle. Unfortunately, sales tracking for retail games is significantly harder than for digital-only titles (where data is easy to get, thanks to everything being centralised).

Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 (3DS) comes out on August 25th in Japan, September 30th in North America, and later this year in Europe.
